Hey Guys

here are some photos of my new 5525 Cab Tractor. Fully loaded accept no FEL.

Those hear a lot might remember a post of mine a while ago discussing tires. Wanted something other than Ags/R1's but didn't want to get the smaller diameter and width of a turf or Industrial tires. here is my solution

Nokian Heavy Tyres, Ag/Maintenance tires. Full Radials half way between a Turf and a Industrial. Really great grip yet without the damage of a Ag.

Size is 480/80R30 rear and 340/80R24 front.

Check them out at Nokian Heavy Tyres

these shots are with my cell phone...will take more later this week with my hi-res digital camera.

Dealer was skeptical when I ordered the tires...but upon seeing them a driving them he is sold. Looking to suggest them to several clients for their usage also.

Tires aren't cheap but they give me a great tire for my property maintenance light ag usage while maintaining ground clearance ride hieght and OEM rims. Should be great for everything other than plowing fields...which I don't do. They ride great on road too...drove them 5 miles at speeds up to 25 mph with superior handling and ride quality. Also great on snow and ice.

Stay tuned for more.

Dave

SuperDutyDave, those tires look like they will out perform R4's for sure. You may just start a new trend.

Sincerely, Dirt

thanks for the compliment....really just hoping to show others what is out there if you look.

this is a new school tire, european, directional radial, self-cleaning and much different then the typical tires we see in the U.S. and are sold as the only alternatives out there. Every dealer told me that any other than the standard tires in the standard sizes that was it...after a lot of work I finally found what I needed. Maybe it will save other some grief.

Here are a few better shots (wish they would let you post higher res.)

Hey Super, think they will stand up to thorns?

not really sure what you mean by that...they are acutally a heavier thicker tire than your average R1 Ag. Check out the weight Ratings China

Thanks for posting the pictures. I have R4s right know but the sharp rocks here are doing a bit of a number on them especially when it is wet. Do you think the cut resistance is better than a R4s?

check out Nokians website.

these are really heavy duty tires...pictures do not do them justice...check out the weight ratings....HUGE.

There is significantly more tread over the entire running surface than an R4. I suspect they will hold up much better.

Just starting on them so no practical expirience yet...but this is not my first piece of equipment so I am a pretty good judge...they are quality, pricey...but you get what you pay for.

Ha! Went to their site. Now I know why the name Nokian sounded familiar. This fall I bought a set of Nokian Hakkapellitta 4s for my wife's car. Great tires.

I will certainly keep these in mind. Hopefully since my tractor is only a year old I will get another year or two out of the R4s.

Dave,
What he means by this is the sharp and strong 2-3 inch "thorns" that are common on some bushes (locust) in many places other than New England or Vermont. When I moved from Maine it took me a while to figure out what they were talking about. There are a problem down here.
