Man you guys back East need some massive footings. That frost stuff sure changes how things are built. It sure looks beefy compared to what we do out here even in "earthquake" country. What method is used to form the stem walls? It looks like plywood was used as the form with some kind of clamping at the edges. Looks great, nice job.

Hey Tom,

The outside wall measures 26' * 36' and yes it will have a finished room over the top, that is why the walls had to be so beefy. As far as heat goes, I have natural gas here and will perhaps install a overhead unit at some point.

Although they may seem massive, to me they don't look very deep. In Michigan the footings have to be set more that 42 inched deep, below the frost lines. How deep do your's go?

Hey Doc,

The pics are decieving, Footings are 3 1/2 ' deep. Now if only the framers can get in gear... This project was suppose to be done before snow flies, and it is flying tonight.
