Below is the press-release from Deere on their new AutoHST system for the 35/3720, I have also attached a few pics. from the article...

AutoHST - New transmission option for 3520 and 3720 Compact Utility Tractors

John Deere is proud to announce a new transmission option for the 3520 and 3720 Compact Utility Tractors. With controls resembling those of an automobile, AutoHST makes getting work done as easy as taking a drive in the country.

AutoHST is designed to resemble an automotive-type control system. When the operator sits in the seat, he or she will feel right at home; the controls resemble those of a car.

Automotive-like features:

Lever on the left for Drive-Neutral-Reverse to engage the transmission
Single "go pedal" on the right to go forward or backward
Single brake on the right, like the brake in a car
Beyond this simple layout, AutoHST has all of the features that eHydro provides such

I don't get it. The whole point of a hydro is you have two pedals and don't have to shift anything. Why would this be better?

Or is it April fools early?

It seems like a step backward. The current setup leaves your hands free, this does not. I really don't get it?

So.....gone is the separate rear wheel braking?

I have been wondering when JD would add auto throttle to their
eHydro to be more competitive with Kubota's HST-Plus. One advantage
JD has over the Kubs now is that there is no foot clutch so the brakes can
be on the left.

I think Deere "jumped the shark" with this change. Why do we need single brake on the right side???? I guess brake steering isn't needed by those "that would feel comfortable with the car like setting" what a joke!

I guess its just something you might have to try out. Who knows you might like it! Not available with cab tractor. Auto throttle would be a better feature.

Sincerely, Dirt

I just dont understand.
the 2 pedal setup with brakes on the left was the advantage
JD had over kubota. now thay want to do away with it.
when you creep up to a ditch or going down hills , its nice to have
one foot on the brake and one on the hydro pedal.

Chris....

I agree. Definitely a step backward. I hope it is an option and not standard. The 2 step hydrostat is the best setup available.

You can still get the E-Hydro system just like you all are use to, don't worry about that...this is just another option to help people feel more comfortable driving a tractor...your beloved 2-pedal setup is safe!
