New B3000 Deluxe Cab on the way

My biggest concern is the difficulty of quickly hopping on and off the machine with the cab, so that will take some getting used to.

Heed my warning..... always, ALWAYS shut the door. Even moving an inch to adjust for hooking up an attachment.

Got the call this morning. Tractor will be here tomorrow afternoon. :cool2:

There are a few things I've done for years with the open station that won't fly with the cab machine, so some of my usage habits will have to change a bit. My biggest concern is the difficulty of quickly hopping on and off the machine with the cab, so that will take some getting used to. And easy access to the backhoe controls from the tractor seat will probably be a thing of the past because the backhoe sits so much further back on the new machine.

The backhoe was one I didn't think of when I went to a cab. I used to simply take a shovel or stick along with me, reach back (forward), lift the FEL and hit the hydro pedal with the shovel. No, not proper operation, but they're so tight that jumping off the bh, then on the tractor to move it, off the tractor and back on the bh every 3 minutes made me think the actual shovel might be easier. Hopefully you can leave your back window open and still sit in the bh seat, I wasn't on mine.

I know you won't be able to sleep tonight.

I wasn't able to sleep last night, but it had nothing to do with waiting for the tractor to show up. :censored:

Splain this to me please. I KNOW I'm going to leave the door open occasionally, even though I've heard this before. So give me a few good examples of why not to ever leave the door open so I can try to burn the images into my brain.

Because they are very easy to hit with the door open and If they hit they will go into a million pieces. It's very easy to do because your not paying attention to the door open, you'll be looking back or ahead and you'll hear the bang and it's expensive. I ALMOST did it in my shop by the vehicle hoist. You couldn't squeeze a credit card between the hoist and the door by the time I stopped. I'll never do it again. I suspect Duckape had a similar experience.
Congrats on the new machine

Bandit - How have you liked moving from the B3030 open to a the B3000 cab?

I too am thinking (dreaming?) of moving into a controlled-weather unit and am going back and forth between finding a new, last year B3000 or a good used B3030 cab. I would like to stay with the newer b-series so we don't have to swamp out attachments, mainly the front mount blower and the backhoe.

On a side, why couldn't the BH75 fit on your B3000? Are the mounts different?

When I bought my B3030 in 2008, I thought I was "man" enough to survive on an open station machine for many years. But low and behold, during the long, cold, snowy winters, I'd find myself daydreaming of clearing snow in a nice warm cab without having to be bundled up in bulky winter wear. Some of our storms, particularly in the springtime, dump a lot of snow and can last for 2 or 3 days, so going out multiple times during a big storm means you eventually get soaked through your Gortex outerwear right down to your underwear, or just plain freeze your butt off in the dead of winter.

As I seem to do every fall & spring, I recently got online looking to see how many B3000's were up for sale, and noticed there was a pretty good amount available. So I figured what the heck, since I purchased my B3030 from Barlow's, I shot Brady an email just to see what a new machine would cost. Well, I got a number that I liked, and while waiting for a buyer for my B3030 to come along, got a good trade offer from Brady that convinced me to pull the trigger. Kubota's 0% financing plus cashback sealed the deal.

Aside from the cab issue, I've been very happy with the B3030, so there was no need for a move up in machine size. Plus, with all the implements I already have, it made sense to stick with essentially the same machine.

I'm getting the B3000 Deluxe Cold Weather Cab, a new LA403 loader, and the BH77 backhoe with mechanical thumb (can't put my BH75 on the new machine). Like on the B3030, I'm going with loaded rears, a block heater, rear work lights (fronts are standard), and decided to add the wheel spacers, since the cab adds some weight up top that the 3030 doesn't have (a lot of my property is sloped).

All I can tell you is I recently went from a Case C80 with a ROPS to a New Holland T4.75 with a cab. I mostly use the tractor for mowing (the plowing and planting I do with it is in October, one of our few "nice" weather months), and as you can imagine, mowing pasture in Texas in July and August can be brutal. I have mowed in the new tractor the last two afternoons, and I cannot begin to tell you how nice it is to not have to battle the yellow jackets, and, how nice it is to not dismount the tractor filthy and sweaty. It's like getting out of a car. I thought having to mess with opening and closing a door would be a big deal, and maybe I will be a little tired of it this Fall when I start using the tractor for clean up work that requires a lot of "on and off" but I love having a cab.

I really like the cab model. There are only a handful of perfect weather days that I miss the open station, but even mowing on those days means the entire machine gets covered in dust, pollen, clippings, etc, but not me. I do need to use the A/C when it's over 60* and sunny up at this altitude, but the times that I'd rather be out in the open are FAR less than the times I am glad to have a cab. Heck, there are times when I'm doing backhoe work that I sort of wish I had the cab for that part too.

Overall, I am very happy with the B3000. I didn't really want to deal with the DPF on the new model, though the Turbo is probably pretty nice at this elevation.

If I remember correctly, the slight differences in the BH75 & BH77 attachment points on both the subframe and backhoe was the reason for not being able to put the BH75 on the new machine. However, I really like the new BH77 curved boom. The BH77 sticks out another 9" further on the cab model, so departure angle suffers. I'd much rather have the backhoe tucked in closer like I did on the B3030 open station, but there is no way it could work. That extra overhang does lighten the front end a bit more than on my B3030.

I am very pleased with the switch from a B3030 ROPS to the B3000, and have no regrets. Especially when I'm wearing short sleeves blowing snow in -11* temps. And I can continue mowing with my flail when it's raining lightly without getting soaked through, and having all the crud that blew up turn to mud on me. And no risk of sunburn when mowing for a few hours in the hot sun. And no more bee stings. And no more branches in the face. And no more snow down my back when the snow covered trees let loose. Oh, and I can listen to music without having earphones stuck in my ears for hours on end, and can answer the phone through the bluetooth stereo too. :D   :cool2:

By the way linksvu, we were up in your neck of the woods over Fathers Day weekend for the Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup. Always a fun time. :steeringwheel:

I'm glad you like the tractor. Cabs are definitely nice to have.
