so far so good. they replaced the bracket (maybe it's a change on the newer hoes) and the alignment/clearance looks good. i do agree about the assembly. the owner of the dealership called me to follow up and i gave him honest feedback about the service post sale. i felt like he listened and appreciated the feedback and he was apologetic for the errors..
to further test the fix, i dug up 6 alder stumps after work and it seems to be working fine, no problems but i still don't have a level spot to check the alignment.. from where it was sitting when i got home it looked OK.
i am considering this case closed at this time.
