I got my new Boomer yesterday, with 270 loader, supersuite cab, power difference is very apparent. It has 12 speed ESSS gearbox/transmission a huge change from the HST of the my 45 horse Boomer. There will be a lot of practice required to smooth out my driving, clutch seems very sensitive. .Any tips on gear selection and smooth operation techniques would be appreciated.
It came with R1s and wheel weights until some R4s are located( apparently difficult to get now??)This will give me a chance to experience the AGs , maybe I will keep them?

Congrats on your new tractor. If it's an EHSS, then you have an inching pedal rather than a clutch. You should not be using that to shift into and out of gear, but should be using the EHSS lever. Depress the inching pedal to change gear, but use the lever to start or reverse directions. The inching pedal is sometimes used similar to a clutch, like when you are inching up to an implement. Either way of shifting should not be sensitive unless you have the RPMs too high. Remember, unlike a HST, you can manuever with teh tractor idled way down. The lower the idle, the softer the EHSS reacts.
Have fun.

Hey congratulations just give yourself time it took me half a year after being spoiled by the hydrostatic 40DA too now having to clutch shift and foot throttle for every directional change but now it's second nature and to tell you the truth I love it even with loader work I know I'm faster at stacking hay plus no hydro-wine, ESSS is a bit tricky that is why I went with SSS but I'm sure it will be the same thing just give yourself time and somebody who has the same transmission can give you better advice on shifting habits, if I'm not mistaken the clutch can be adjusted by your dealer with a computer to be less sensitive? As far as gear and range selection I usually do all my fieldwork rocking cultivating plowing midrange second or third gear, and depending on the soil sometimes fourth gear no sweat, I find the high range good for road travel and H1 for mowing light grass when it starts to get thicker back to midrange four, as far as low range I haven't really found a use for it other than pulling down old barns :). You are lucky to be able to try the R1 THERE IS NO DOUBT THEY HAVE BETTER TRACTION it will be interesting to hear your report on how they work on your property. At this point on my farm I'm doing a lot of land reclamation which means lifting heavy weight tree stumps and rocks all day long and driving over a lot of spiky material no flat so far the R4 are a very tough tire and handle weight extremely well I also set my back tires out to almost maximum to keep me stable and loaded them with calcium chloride in tubes. The only time I miss the agricultural tires when using my old white three bottom plow it's next to impossible to stay in the furrow, and traction can be an issue in very wet areas in the early spring, but I don't know if any tire wouldn't have a problem in some of my wet areas. Well anyway take care and enjoy that cab and of course let's see some photos ;-)

Put 4 hours on tractor today, more weight required in back end for sure the loader is extremely powerfull a lot more front heavy than the 45 horse Boomer. Will have to invest in weight box.Might be a little different with" loaded tires.Height difference very noticeable with ag tires. Shifting got better as day progressed , did tiller work in 1st gear low range.FEL work in midrange 2nd and 3rd.

I'm glad to hear it shifting better for you, isn't it amazing how much that loader can lift I swear it will lift more than they say, that's why I suggested getting a ballast box. I was lucky I found mine at a John Deere dealer category two just sitting in a pile of mud I asked the dealer how much he told me to take it off his hands for $250 dollars I found out later they list out for about $1000 I got a really good deal just a little rusty so I got home sandblasted it and painted it red I know I should've painted it blue but I figured it would be easy to see at night, so maybe if you look around you might get lucky especially in this bad economy. I was just curious did you add any remote valves I had two installed one regular and one dent remote I wish I just put the third one on but I thought I had enough. Take care and have fun and let us know how those tires work out.

You can't tell the players without a score card....... What is a 4060 ? With this newfangled system what is all the hype about number changes ? I assume with a 270 loader it must be the TC 55 with possibly a new grille ? I'm sure they didn't change much unless they found cheaper suppliers.
EHHS is great but takes time to get used to. A cab would be good but I don't plow snow with mine in the winter months and n summer the tree branches get in the way.
Good luck and have fun with the new machine.

Boomer 4060 is new name for TC60. I think they just raised the boost on the turbo a wee bit to get the extra 5 hp from the same engine.
Weight box next on the list if calcium in tires does not help a bit. Maybe with filled R4's the extra volume will help offset the loader. The ag tires on it however are great for traction but feel softer under load than the R4s felt on my TC 45.
