I posted a while back that I was close to buying one, well I did get that job done. It came with a loader and a 7ft Farm King blower. So far I've only had one opportunity to really use it moving snow. 90% of the time I used 2nd gear, set the throttle about 1800 rpm's, and it worked great. I used 1st just when using the blower, haven't had a reason to use 3rd yet. The little thing has a lot more power and "push" than I thought it would and very easy to operate.
I have experienced some of the things others had commented on, reverse does seem faster than forward, not a big deal, just adjust the amount you are pushing the foot pedal. The other thing some have commented on is it seems to speed up when accelerating then slow down slightly to the max speed for gear range, I think I'm going to set mine to max out at about 10 in second, dealer tech set it to 8 and I think that is a little slow. To me the CVT is a lot like running a forklift with a torque converter, pretty easy.
I have not had any trouble with power or "dogging out" on hills as some people have commented on, not so much with the 8N but other NH models with the CVT. I really don't have hills but would think that pushing snow for long stretches you would see that, but mine seems to have loads of power.
I will have a chance to use it more either tonight or tomorrow morning, we are in the middle of a blizzard right now so there will be plenty of snow to move! I'll try to post how it goes.
Does anyone else on here actually own a Boomer 8N? I've read a lot of threads on here about them but mostly people talk about how nice they look. So far I am thrilled with how easy it is to operate, hopefully my wife will find it as useful in the summer!
