New Brush Cutter

After being out back and looking at the property early this Yr. I decided to get a New to me Bush Hog. I use a Squeeler with the 5103 but it's not going back in there. And when I found this one IMO. Cheap I was back to get it that day. It's a BEAST!!!! and works great behind the 2000 unbelievable how much I've cleared out Clemsonfor. I haven't Stalled out the tractor yet. The only prob. I can't find the manufactuer on it. The only ID. is on the Gear Box. International Technology group. Calsbad CA. Is that the same as International Tractor co???? Or is wally world out of the Question if I would need anything.:laughing:

Nice bush hog, it does look like a beast. I have a really light duty one and i am supprised at what i have cut. It sounds awfull but i have cut suff that i would of though no way! Some of the really big stuff i lift it up and back over the tree and slowly lower it, allowing it to chew it down, while i lean foward and duck out of the way. I really need a cage on the back for stuff like that though!

That looks a lot like the LMC that I bought for my 1700 but, it is 4'. Made by Lowry in Boaz,al

I have an LMC disk thats about a 4.5ft model, its pretty heavy duty compared to other things of similar size, way heavier than leinback or whatever there called.

Mine is almost identical. When (not if) I hit a rock, it shreds it. Ahem. It's the only 'hog I've ever owned....but when properly trimmed, it cuts real close. I've been very happy with it.

It probably is an International, I have the model IM-400 4 ft'r and looks to be made like this one you have and it's a International , and yes very well built, actually one of the best Built I've seen, as I hear it the USA company that made these went under several years ago,

I think I'll get mine hooked up tomorrow and do some clearing

Yeah Guys it works great. Looks just like it in the Pic. DND. thanks. Found it on Hwy.78 from one of the Snell. Britt boys I went to school with. He gave me a great deal on it. 375.00 So far the only thing I had to do to it was shorten the Dr.shaft 10 min. maybe

The cutter I have was one of the original ( International Technologies/ World Agritech Corp )
as it did have the labels that read the manufacture company name but since has faded off,

I also lucked up on it at a good deal, I got mine from a man who had purchased one of the VN ( Ym2000 ) package deal that came with this brush cutter, I forget how long he had been using the tractor, I think not more than 1 year when the tractors engine failed and he parted it out and put the cutter up for sale on CL 200, Luckely I was the first to inquire and he was only 20 minutes away,
when I got there I was surprized to see it had no signs of being used, he told me he may have used it 2 times, If you remember at the time I was rebuilding another cutter, I paid 150 for it and it was badly beaten up, So I cut it down from a 5 ft making it into a 4 ft,
I went ahead and finish that cutter and sold it for 300..... You can do the math and figure out what I actually have in the International cutter

Post #8 yep!! Duh!!! just couldn't place it.:confused2: I did get out the other day and tack down a place or two but for what I'm going to use it for it's about time to clean it up. It's nice to have it around if I would like a little seat time and should easily take care of a few more things. I do have a spray gun I've never used and this should give me a good idea of what to expect of it. So I guess it going to be a trip to Harbor frieght for a sand blaster. And a little shopping :licking:

Or use a wire wheel on a grinder for the cheap way.

I've have those prob be rough on the Hand. Yep!!! thats my excuse to make the trip. Plus just recieved a new Bowling ball. I haven't been able to do for Yrs.:thumbsup: HF it is

I did a dirt scoop this fall. I used a drill and a wire wheel. Still ahve it sitting under the carport, dont want to move it, looks so go there!!

Well i still need to brush and paint the pulley and a the hardware for it, to put it back togeather. The thing is heavy and i need the neighbors tractor to move it before i get it out of there. I put it there by hand but its heavy as all get out and i dont want to lift it again, bet it weighs 250lbs, i dragged it onto a trailer and then lifted it onto the saw horses. Barely could get it up there!

He had a scoop on the lot. Don't think I wasn't looking at it The b.hog went so well getting it up and going and clearing the fence line I can use the JD. if I need to. I'm going to be looking for a rake next. I believe that will work real well for my needs. It should pay for itself just for the PILES of leaves I get to clean up every fall. And more now

yup! a sandblaster sure takes allot of work out of the job, providing you go ahead and buy the media blasting materials to use in it, I tried to go the el-cheap-o way buying clean and screened play sand, Wrong! I even ran it over a window screen myself to be sure wasn't anything left in the sand and still something wasn't right, My air compressor has a water filter/separate as well as the sandblaster inlet valve itself,
though it did good the 30 seconds it worked, then I had to jolt the tank to get another 30 seconds of blasting from it, after 20 minutes I was ready to go for the wire-wheel and drill method
I got about 3 hours seat time in today using the Bush-hog then cleaned it up, I did find that the faded label was still legible enough to read,
Incidentally remember that finish mower I built from a commercial mower deck? I know longer have it, I sold it last week, 2 months ago I traded for a zero-turn mower and decided I really didn't need the finish mower anymore, besides I was always limited to when I could use it, due to the AG tires on my tractor if the ground was the least moist the tires would tear up the ground, although the finish mower did a wonderful job cutting smoothly, I Had weld some front wheel forks onto it but never got around to getting the wheels, ( Hopefully were to find some in the local salvage yard) but I was always to late when someone else scored them first,
I think I broke even on the finish mower selling it for 250 although I have seen some used factory made mowers bring 600-800, Needles to say the buyer was happy to get it, It will now be used with a ford 1700, My only concern is that he said his PTO was but a 1 speed. which I think would make it 1 to 1 ratio. right! means he's going to have to dog his tractor to get it up to speed,
I used it at at least 720 most the time 1000 range, or is it 1120?

I seen the sand and different setups online. And since I do have a assortment of wire wheels an brushes it should be pretty straight forward. Still have Woods 5' RD. I went to using straiht blades instead of the High-Lift. They cut great and more expensive. But still worth it this is the 2nd. season with no sign of wear. The High lift angle would about be gone on the HL. My Front few Acres looks like a fairway from the office.

After cleaning the cutter I lift it to inspect the underside and blades condition, Not ever having but one other cutter I'm not sure if this is typical for all cutters, But on each front and rear of the blade mounted to the underside are some steel boomerang shape pc's, looks like something made to perhaps skid over things, I was a bit disappointed not to had found a stump jumper on it,
Not only do they have the reinforcing angle boxing on the top side, the skirt is made from 6" channel iron, not as some I've seen with the sheet metal simply bent over/down and a thin edging put around the bottom,
all and all I think it will make you a good cutter just as mine has for me,

Stump Jumper.. Someone Cought the corner of mine on something? Whatever they had it behind was a Blank of a lot more tractor then I've got it behind LOL.

Way better than the Jbar i have. I dont have a stump jumper nor some thinglike that in there. Also my edge is just like 12gauge metal with a say 3/16 or 1/4 ich flat peice of steel welded onto it so that it forms an upside down T. the leg of the T is the side skirt of the mower and the top part of the T is the flat metal that is centered and welded on the side skirt. Of course the letter T is inverted so imagine it upside down and thats the profile of my cutter side.
