New Bush Hog setup?

I just bought a brand new King Kutter 6' rotary cutter from tractor supply. I know I have to service it, grease it, and fill with fluid. Is there anything else anyone suggests I do while preping it for use or to help maintain it?

I'll follow the assembly instructions, but just wanted to know if anyone thought of any other break in procedures.

Make sure to take it and chop the tops off of some large rocks the first time you use it. No sense putting off the inevitable. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No breakin procedure needed. Just fill the lube, grease the fittings, hook it up and go. You may need to adjust the rear wheel to get the desired cutting height. With the rear wheel on the ground, adjust the 3ph so that the front of the deck is slightly lower than the rear of the deck. That will give optimal cutting performance.
Then it is just periodic maintenance, checking fluid level, greasing the fittings, and sharpening the blades. And maybe straightening some metal or doing some welding if you hit something or back into something you shouldn't. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

If you haven't attached/detached 3 point hitch implements much, this <font color="red">thread</font> might prove useful. The sequence for attaching is just the opposite of detaching.

Otherwise, as already posted, once greased and filled with fluid, your cutter should be ready to go. Enjoy!

One additional thing I had to do with my KK rotary cutter was loosen the bolt/nut assembly on the rear wheel and grease it so it would turn. They are shipped by KK with the wheel intentionally tightened so as not to turn in order to facilitate loading and unloading.
