Kubota BX1800
First off I want to thank you guys and your vast knowledge. I recently replaced an old JD L&G with a new BX1800.

My question is about the 3pt. When it was delievered, it had my Woods GTO40 tiller attached. Since the first activity was mowing, I removed the tiller. No problems.. Went to put the tiller back on and had a bugger of a time. Seems like the rotating balls (not sure of the correct tractorspeak ) are frozen. I placed a pin in and tapped them with a hammer. Still tight. Put some grease and tapped again, still tight, but better. I guess they'll eventually loosen up.

Now, in another thread I discovered, someone mention cleaning the balls w/ paint thinner then shooting them / WD40. Sounds like a great idea.

Should I have used grease on the balls, it sure attracts alot of dirt and grit, or some other lubricant.

Gobbler, I would keep working them with the pins, paint thinner and WD 40. As you read on the posts, this seems to be one of the quirks of the BX.Let us know what you think of the Woods tiller.

I have seen this with every BX we have had. Kubota states they have made them rotate easier, but I have yet to see it. I use a long metal bar, and just spray them with penetrant, and move them around until they move easier. They don't seem to really free up until they get some use. I don't know about grease, I wouldn't do it for the same reason you explained. Dirt is a killer.

I didn't give the grease much thought when I did it, but after doing some tilling last nite, I could sure tell that it might not be a good idea.

The Woods GTO40 works great, I've only used it once to break up sod. One pass and the sod was history.

The tiller was my wife's idea, and I quote. "I don't care what you get as long as you get a tiller" So...

Not knowing much about tractors and implements, except what I've picked up here, my dealer steered me towards the Woods. He had a Kubota tiller, but said I wouldn't be happy with it. Seems more weight is a good thing in a tiller and the Woods weights over 100lbs more than the Kubota. The offset feature is nice, it's currently offset to cover the right rear tracks. Price was $1350
