New BX23-3ph will not raise after newly installed

I don't know how a BX23 is set up, but does it have other quick disconnects other than the ones for the backhoe? such as for the loader or to the sump from the loader control valve?

BXMMCC,

Have you checked the quantity of hydraulic fluid?

Thanks for the tip /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif, I wish I had. Problem is solved! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I guess I should have known better than to assume it came all checked and double checked, especially the fluid levels. The hydraulic oil doesn't even register on the dipstick. The loader and HST seem to work ok but I guess that doesn't mean the 3ph should work normal.

I'll put a call/yell /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif to the dealer on Monday and get some Kubota Super UDT. In the mean time, I'll leave it parked and go over everything with a fine tooth comb - oil, water, bolts, tire air pressure, etc...

Thanks BXMMCC, JerryG, BillyP & Junkman. I really appreciate all your help.

Jerry

that dipstick can be very deceiving when you look at it. I suggest that you remove it and wipe it dry with a paper towel, then reinsert it and remove. Then lay the dipstick vertically on a piece of brown paper bag material and see where the oil stain is on the paper and compare that with the dipstick marking. The oil is so clear in color, that it appears to be low and that is not the case. The tractor would have to be very low in fluid for the 3 point not to work and it would also effect the loader, and I don't believe that is the case. The reason for this opinion is that the charge pump will whine when you attempt to raise the 3 pt hitch and the loader is working properly. Once again, I suggest that you unplug each hose on the entire machine and replug them in. If all the controls are in their proper place, then it should work or there is a defect in the tractor. I respect the opinions of the other person that suggest the low oil, but from experience, I also have discounted it.. If it didn't raise the 3 pt arm when attached to an implement, I would agree with the low fluid theory, but with no weight on them, the oil level isn't as critical...

Re: New BX23-3ph will not raise after newly instal

My completely ignorant opinion, but this fixes things for me 90% of the time, is that you have a defective Fetzer valve. Some ball bearings and a few quarts of 30wt should fix it...

Hey rockdog:

If the dealer did not attach all of the implements and run them then you could be low on oil as the HST has to fill all of the lines and cylinders.
Junkman is right, the oil is clear and it is really hard to see where the level really is. I read somewhere that someone had introduced a bit of red dye into the fluid so it was visible. Not sure I would do that but it makes sense!

I have to agree with Junkman on this one. I have a BX-22 that on occasion will pop loose one of the FEL quick connects. When this happens, all of the hydraulics refuse to operate properly, including the backhoe when it is attached. Initially I thought there was a serious problem with the machine. Once I reconnected the FEL hose the problem was solved. So like Junkman suggested, I would uncouple all of the quick connects and reconnect them making sure they are seated properly.

Junkman....I had the same problem with one of my loader hoses popping off unexpectantly and realised that my hoses were "binding" against one another when raising the loader, causing tension at the connector and subsequently pulling apart...have you made sure that they are properly routed??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif......Rosey

I have already checked that possibility... I think that the male end might be machined a couple of thousands too much and that causes a loose fit.... will be changing the connector when warm weather gets here in 6 months.... thanks for the suggestion....

Thanks all for the help,

I am sure the dipstick is dry. There is definitely no fluid on it, I have triple checked it. I will check the quick disconnects, by the way, are there just the ones on the back for the backhoe and the front for the loader? If those check out ok, I'll add super UDT tomorrow and if that doesn't work I'll have the dealer look at it. The loader does work but seems slow with a little noise, I wasn't sure if this is a normal BX thing or not. The 3ph will only raise if there is no implement on it and even then it does so very slowly. I guess I am a little nervous about trying the loader & HST for further evaluation because of the posssibility of low hydraulic fluid.

Thanks, Jerry

Update:

I added about 2 quarts of Super UDT to get it to register on the stick and it is at the full line and still nothing. Dealer is sending a mechanic out today to look at it but I don't have high hopes. I think they will probably have to send a truck and haul it into their shop which is about 1 hour away. I will keep you posted when the final verdict is in.
