I find that somewhat odd with hooks on the side. IF you need to go into places and the hooks are in the way then what ? I would ask dealer if he can modify the hooks location for you since they didnt ask you where you wanted them.

I agree with moving the hooks. I don't want to think how much brush mine would have caught if mounted like that. I also like being able to get the bucket in close to walls etc. Those hooks would be scratching siding badly in my hands...

i agree they are in a bit of a weird place. but....

1. i can't think of really any situation where the would have stopped me from doing the things i have done with my bx24 JUST because of the location.

2. you really need a way to lift from the center of the bucket. i have had loads the bucket could lift but the back of the tractor couldn't hold down. it is scary when you have all the weight lifting on one side of the bucket and the opposite rear wheel starts to come off the ground!

3. if you didn't specify where YOU wanted them, and the dealer put them where he thought they should go, you don't have much room to argue. they might change them for free just to be nice, but my experience is the dealer is there to make a profit just like everyone else. the first stab at the job is free, after that and the sale is complete, they need to get their shop rate to keep the doors open.

that said, you could easily add a center hook or d-ring with a welder or a drill and some bolts. there is a perfect, reinforced area for a small d-ring right where the middle cylinder connects to the bucket. i found a small ring rated for 1,200 lbs that far exceeds anything our tractors could lift.

if they bother you on the sides, just grind 'em off.

My dealer welds three short pieces of angle iron on the top of the bucket. One on each end, and one in the middle, and then mounts the hooks to those. I like that approach very much, and I haven't seen one of the buckets done that way damaged. Here is a photo of one he did. It's dark, and cold out there right now, but if you want closer photos, I'll take some of mine for you.

My dealer mounted my hooks similar to LearJets, except turned 90* up. I never specified where I wanted them and when it was delivered, the salesman said that where they put them was the best position for the BX loader. There really isn't a flat top edge on the BX loaders so it seemed to make sense to me. Never had any issues with clearance, but mine are tighter to the bucket than LJ's.

Here's a pic of the BX1850, prior to trading it back for an 1860. I kept the loader.

I'm not sure that I'd want to be lifting the full FEL capacity from the outside of the bucket. Seems like a lot of twisting action on the FEL and tractor frame. You'll just have to make sure that the load is slung between both hooks. FWIW - I have just one hook and it's bolted to the top of the bucket, right in front of the curl cylinder.
