New Carhart coat

I just wish they'd come back with the brown duck unlined chore coat! I bought some years ago, when Carhart quit making them Gemplers had them. Now I can't find them anywhere!

I really bought it because I didn't have a light weight coat to cover my gun. My wife is on my case about going around with my shirt untucked all the time. So this week is so warm I won't get to wear it.

Boy I can sure relate to wife and untucked shirt comments. She tells me it's a dead give away but I say if you dress that way all the time then no one is the wiser. :D

I looked at that coat last week and really liked it. It was fairly light weight, yet warm enough for bad weather. Couldn't make myself spend that much on a work coat though. I could see myself freaking out about getting grease on it. Maybe someday I'll be rich enough to not care, or clean enough to not worry.

Me too. So I just wear it for dress up, like going to church.

The other thing I've noticed is that the jacket without a "rib-knit" waistband doesn't seem to fit around the waist anymore.

So all my Carhartt stuff is old---Lined Coveralls, The typical lined "chore coat (with hood!) a hooded zipper jacket with hood and a vest. Empty the pockets and throw the stuff i the washer every now and then. And most importantly -all made in USA. Don't imagine ANYTHING they make now is made here correct?

They have plenty of competition now-just saw a Duluth Trading ad on TV- but I'm sure all that stuff is Mexican/ china sourced. I think Carhartt could do well if they "flew the flag more"

Lowell,

I just saw a Dickies ad under the Sears website that shows an unlined chore coat. Maybe that would do. I have a Sears chore coat from 30 years ago, but it is the blanket lined one. It now sports patches from seed companies, Royals, my military insignia, Ford etc.

Cheers,
Mike

Woops,,,,,it isn't brown.

I have a couple Carhartt coats. One is the heavy lined thigh length lined and insulated one that I wear in the coldest weather. My everyday cold weather one is a hooded and thick fleece type liner. They make good stuff. Really can't go wrong with any of it.

I like all things Carhartt. Except maybe folding them when I take them out of the dryer :D

As jackets go, my wife bought me a really nice jacket which I promptly wore while burning a brush pile. I have been hiding the hole an ember burned in the shoulder of it for 2 years now so as not to disappoint her. She also bought me a lined vest which I really like as well.

I just bought a Crowley jacket without a hood. I like wearing hooded sweatshirts and didn't need another jacket with a hood. Right now it's too warm to wear so I'll hang in the closet until it does get cold enough to wear it. It has some BIG inside pockets too..
