Mike, I believe those were "list" prices and included the 54" mower. The 60" mower for the current 400 series is about $500.00 more than the 54". I would expect the new 62" to be about the same. Again, I believe these are list prices so some discounting should be possible. But I expect these tractors to be in demand for at least a year so the discounting may be limited. When I compared list price for a 455 with a 60" deck to the list price of a X495 (assuming the 62" deck is the same price as the 60") they are about the same price. $1200 more for the 4WD option seems reasonable. I looked at the BX and thought it was a nice tractor. But for me I am looking for a large garden tractor rather than a small compact utility tractor. For my use the ROPS just doesn't work around trees, brid feeders, clothes lines, etc., even if it folds. I use my 4400 compact utility for the heavy mowing and loader work. My 445 works well for mowing around the house. I also have the front mounted sweeper and a smaller tractor works best for me. There are times where a 4WD tractor would be nice especially using any front mounted attachments. I like the larger frame design on the new X series. I am disappointed that Deere did not add turning brakes and a two speed axle like the old 420/430. I am sure cost was an issue. I think the new X tractors will be successful despite the fact they look like a Sabre from the front. Perhaps the look will grow on us but for now I think they are ugly from the front.
