New design skid plate for BX

Hi all & Happy new year.

I've been busy over the holidays & made a few changes in the original skid plate.

The new design no longer requires drilling into the main frame.

Oh sure, wait till after my wife orders one for Xmas then make it easier to install and stronger. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.
Atcually, I cant tell exactly what kind of configuation Youve got there on the new design but as I was installing mine, I thought that a simple Ubolt up and over the frame rail that would sandwich it would work well and be a no drill install.

How much time did it take you, start to finish?

Here a photo of the new skid plate installed. You can see that there still is two holes to be drill, but not in the main frame, it's on that cross guard.

Those up-right tabs on the new design will work much better. That’s how we use to make belly pans for full size utility tractors.

I couldnt get her to install it. She did offer to help though.

It took me about an hour from the time I got tools together to the time I was putting them away. Thats not including a round trip to town for an air drill, my electric drill just wouldnt cut it between the frame rails, and I did have to stop mid drill to sharpen the bit once.
I dont know if its needed or not but I did take a couple days before hand and throw a coat of red oxide primer and tractor grey on it.
I'll try to get a couple pics to you, it may be a few days though.

Oh, real nice design, Youve definately got some skill and put some forethought into it.

For the rest of the boys & girls out there, Plastikote (285 Rebuilder's Grey Cast Finish) is a very high quality paint, this is what I used on every skid plate, there no reason to repaint it. I’ve never seen a better paint. It even holds on to my brake drums on the car.

It's not an exact match to Kubota, but very close.

Actually shes really good in the garage. She's helped me on several Jeep projects. She knows more about Jeeps than many payed mechanics do.
You know, when the skid arrived, I thought it wasnt painted. The Plastikote looks like bare metal. So on that assumption, I bought some paint. When I was cleaning it up to paint, I got a closer look and thought, hey it looks like its already painted. I went through with the painting because I spent the money for the paint and spent the time prepping it.
