Dougrout, you're not too far from me. I say a dozer like the others and around our way you can get one in for $60-75/hr. You'll be surprised what a good operator and dozer can do for you. As for laying down stone, I usually put down pit-run first as it's cheaper but I know Cruickshank can also come in with their trucks backwards and they'll open the tailgate enough that the big crusher run stone will fall out in 'X' inches. Plus them backing up over it would really pack it down. That stone will likely be somewhere between $300-400 for 20/22 tons. So making a true 'road' will cost you.
To answer your last question, a boxblade will move a decent amount of soil however it depends on how far you need to move it. It's not the most efficient method if you need to go far. As for make, if you have the dollars then buy a good quality Bush Hog or Land Pride boxblade. I have the former and it's definitely beefier and made better than the cheaper models many tractor dealers carry around here but they are more expensive.
