Jay,
I would recommend for all around use the L1741A Heavy Duty, roundback bucket. It actually has more capacity than the 66" bucket but if you compare the two side by side the differences will be immediate to you. For example, the 66" weighs 220 lbs while the 60" HD weighs 308 lbs. Regardless of a theme we hear, "wider is not always better". Although preferences vary, it would also allow you to put one hook in the middle instead of the two on the ends. Please, please read the posts on tractor safety when using hooks. They are extremely useful but can also get you into a heap load of trouble if not used with the a great deal of caution.
Frank,
I am having trouble finding the links... maybe someone else can help me out. I know there are some great pictures of hooks and toothbars along with discussions of both but I can't seem to find them. The tooth bar helps by allowing the bucket to dig into gravely soil or brush... where the straight edge of the bucket would tend to move up or down when hitting a rock or stick, the teeth on the tooth bar use the individual points to "stabalize" the bucket. The nice part is that it normally attaches with just 2 bolts so if you are dealing with the snow like this wonderful winter brought us, you can remove it easily and put it back on again in the spring.
The hook(s) are used for lifting and pulling objects by wrapping chain or straps around the hook. Many uses but again... be aware of safety
If someone out there can help Frank by posting the links, it would be greatly appreciated.
Matt
