I spent 40 years (6 volunteer then 34 professionally) in the fire service in Auburn and do not miss that King County area at all.

Welcome to the forum,

I think going larger on the tractor will be better for you with that much land depending on what/how you want to do. Personally I think 75HP is the smallest I would look at. :2cents:

I've had several suggestions to get a larger tractor. I will need to plow snow so I'd like to have a cab with heat. Given all the trees and large tractors being tall I think I need something intermediate in size. It's all about the trade-offs.

I wanted to ask a question on here - thoughts on gray Market tractors?

Insert your location into your T-B-N PROFILE, so it shows with every post you make. If you are reasonably specific with your location, respondents will clue you into used tractors for sale within a reasonable distance of your property. They will also let you know where quality service is available.

You guys are traveling into Seattle wrong, just come from the peninsula. It's just a 30 minute ferry ride with a great view and then you're right downtown ;).

Anyway back to tractors, having just gone through this for a ~47hp tractor: dealer, dealer, dealer.

Over here on the peninsula there's limited options and ended up buying the tractor from down south in Chehalis. Had some issues with 4x4 and dealer is doing the 200mi round trip to sort it out at no cost. You wont see large differences between the brands so go with a dealer that's going to give you the support you need. There's some Delta between the different makes but if you have a poor dealer that can sour the whole thing.

I would not buy a gray tractor, I just do not see the reasoning. If the idea is to save money, just be patient and keep an eye on used. You are well positioned location wise to get to eastern WA or eastern OR to pick up a deal. I bought a used one out of Bend.

Agreed. If you choose right, it will probably be in your family for a very long time. I wouldn't compromise. Figure out what you want, your budget, and then match your needs best you can with your wallet.

I appreciate the comments. I bought my excavator from a dealer in the Kitsap area, I won't mention their name but let's just say I'll never do business with them again.

I have a local diesel mechanic who works on my excavator and other equipment so I don't see a big need for dealer support except for parts. Agree on this will be in the family along time so limited access to parts concerns me.

Haha, I know that *exact* dealer. Let me guess is it orange in color?

When I was shopping orange tractors they gave me so much run around and used-car dealer tactics I said eff-em and went with RMT Equipment instead even though they're almost 100mi away.

Lee down there in Chehalis is a stand-up dude, if your interested in Kubota highly recommend giving them a call.
