John.

John,

I've got a TSC king kutter rake and It's been pretty good, but mine is a completely different design. The design on mine is a large piece of angle that is boxed in at the pivot. The boxed angle appears to be a fair/inexpensive design, but I can't even get a handle on how good or bad yours is. Channel twists and unless it is made or spring steel or boxed in at the pivot, I don't see how it can ever have the torsional rigidity to resist twisting.

If it was me I'd go with a different design. I just can't see the rigidity in that design.

Good luck.

Joe

thanks for the replies...you confirmed my thoughts...I'm going to get my money back...

for those who missed it, this is the new product line (Farm Force) that's replacing the Kink Kutter brand at Tractor Supply...there have been many posts saying the FF brand is the same as KK but you can see from my experience that is definitely not the case!

I still would like to know how it bent? was it me or? I bet I didn't even pull an inch of soil with it.

If I were you I'd take it back and tell you to get you one of these.

They can order one for you,I took this pic at a tsc. It's going to be a lot more money, but still a lot less than a landpride or a york etc. This rake was a substantial improvement over their standard one.

yep, just bent my rake, same one, on the lawn. Horrible design. Too late for me to take back, I'll get someone to weld the box onto where there is just light angle iron now.

The Farm Force rake is a piece of junk, IMHO. I just hope I can alter it into a real tool, and it doesn't remain and expensive lesson.

I'm not sure that I bent this thing but the attached pics tell the story...I used it for about 60 seconds and that's not an exaggeration! Didn't hit any rocks, yet you can see from the attached pictures that something happened...either by somebody else or me.

It quite possibly was bent prior to my purchasing it from TSC (and straightened) and I just didn't notice...it had a bunch of scratches, etc but I wonder how I could've missed a prior bend unless it was straightened by somebody else .

The rake is a 7 foot farm force...any comments on the design? it seems strange to me that the bottom bar is made of 4 sections which would encourage bending at those points. This is the replacement product for King Kutter at TSC and is a different design entirely as the KK brand is made of one solid lower cross bar.

Anybody else have this rake? or other comments? TSC agreed to swap it out but I'm concerned that this rake will fail again, but I can't be sure because I don't know what caused the problem.

I would get my money back and invest in a heavy duty rake, like landpride or befco.I just bought a befco BLR-84 rake, not cheap $895 but heavy duty.coobie

I paid $550 for it but can't remember what brand it is. I got it from a NH dealer in Rosebud MO. He touted it for having the extra tube across the top connecting to the rake tine rail (for lack of better words to describe it). He said any single "railed" rake would bend over time.

I will be on the farm this weekend and will look to see what brand it is.

I have used it hard with no worries so far.

I will say this for Farm Force - I've learned a lot about what to look for on my next rake

Box instead of angle iron would have been a huge improvement.
