I can realistically address the original question. I had a 100 acre farm and am now have a 34 acre farm with 20 open acres. I square bale for horses as I have several draft horses. I do not round bale or have cows.
You can use a full size utility tractor OR a large CUT. On the 100 acre farm I had several tractors including a 50 hp CUT and a NH TN75DA utility tractor. When I moved to the my current place I had to decide whether to get a full size tractor like the TN75 or go with a large CUT.
I bought a Deere 4520 with a cab and SEL. 66hp and fully loaded it handles everything without a problem. I wanted the HST for mowing specifically, plus, I really like the self leveling loader. I have no regrets but I would also have been fine with a full size tractor with a power shuttle. Mowing is just so much easier with the HST. Today it would be a hard decision between the 4R and a 5075 with a cab for me.
I chose the Deere for the bells and whistles. That's just me. If you want to trim your cost, look seriously at the MF 1759 which will be very cost effective and still well equipped
I don't know what other brands you have near by, Obviously Kubota's are good. In my area about the same price as Deere. If you have a Kioti dealer nearby then look at the DK55 which is a very effective tractor that is kind of between the large CUT and the utility tractor. I have some experience with it and it's a nice machine. It's a tractor I probably should have bought 7 years ago when I needed a good modern tractor. It would have kept me from buying more tractors later - oh wait, that wasn't really a bad thing :^)
