I got a Sanking 61" flail a couple of days ago on Amazon for $2450 - model BGCI-155. With a lot of issues, I finally got it set up and it ran well for less than 100' but then the hammers stopped rotating. The PTO to the gearbox is fine, but there is no rotation out of the gearbox to the the belts.

Very poor documentation - it seems to be very close to the Titan JD155FLAIL and the TMG Industrial TFM60, which have better documentation online.

in the Gearbox drawing that came with the machine, I found a 10x40 mm key near the gearbox on the horizontal shaft to the pulleys that could be the problem, but I see no shear pin which is mentioned in other posts. I'm attaching the drawing which shows the suspect key.

Does anyone know if there is a shear pin that may have sheared - where should I look? Other suggestions on the problem?

I'm attaching this to a 2010 John Deere 2520 which I got about a month ago.

I'm thinking there should be 2 keys (4a) under that collar unless the existing key is very long. Also, did you service the gearbox with oil?

I was browsing the posts to find out where a shear pin would be and I looked at my PTO shaft and voila! Here's the problem! Easy to fix.

Sorry - I had no experience with PTO shafts until now.

Glad you found it but what did you hit to shear it? Also as asked above, did you check/fill the gearbox oil?

When you put the shear bolt in, put some grease on the spline, looks kinda dry.

I think it was that I had the flail running on the ground, and I was cutting over a area that was matted from a prior sidebar mower cut done about 6 weeks ago. The gearbox oil was fine. Yesterday with a grade 5 2"x5/16" bolt as the shear pin, I mowed for about 1.5 hours with the flail runners up about 2" off the ground. In this position, the roller often does not touch the ground. I need to experiment with height and speed to optimize for the cleanest cut. I'll also put some grease on the PTO splines at both ends.

Thank you both for your helpful suggestions!

If that is the height that you want to mow at, if you lengthen your toplink you should be able to have the rear roller touching and actually supporting your mower. Also you may be able to lower the rear roller if lengthening the toplink gets the u-joint angles to far out.
With the rear roller on the ground the mower should be able to float up and down with your lift arms.
