New Ford Truck

Hi Barry,

Hearty congrats on your new F-150......just what a guy needs out in the lovely country where you are.

We have an '04 F-350 which was new to us this past winter. We love it for towing. The bed has a sliding cover on it so I have not tried to haul the PT in it.

You should be able to haul your PT in the F-150 bed. MR had some cautions on using the ramps which you can buy from PT. I did have a lot of this kinda' stuff in my "saved" threads. It seems like when TBN went to new server system, all my saved threads were cleaned out, so youll have to try a search. Did you lose all that stuff also???

Thanks Doc,

Yes the wife has the 04 Expo with a 5.4 she loves it. With gas shooting up, I thought she would want to get rid of it. No way she say's, ok with me. I had the Navigator with the 5.4 great vehicle, but I bought it before I moved out this way, to pretty for me and not very useful.

This time I went with a no frills F-150 with a 4.6 thought with the short bed, and smaller V-8 I might squeeze a few more miles to the gallon out it, and still have V-8 power on tap. I already ordered the K&N filter for it.

So far I can tell the new frame is rock solid. I think it’s supposed to be 9 times stiffer than past 150's. I've had other Ford pickups, all problem free great trucks, but I can tell a big difference when going over bumps, and hills no frame flex in general.

I lost any saved threads also. After they get the bugs worked out, I think this will be a great format. I'll have to do a search on your past threads.

One thing you want to make sure to do is come up with some way to secure the ramps to the truck when loading or unloading. You wouldn't want to drop that tractor if a ramp slipped.

Very Nice! How's the bed capacity? The newer 150's seem like they have a higher bed.

Moss,

you can bet I'll make sure everything is secured in place, tail gate reinforced some how, and latched down tight. Your right, could make for a real disaster if I were to drop it. No need to haul it anywhere any time soon, just thinking about the if’s and how's. I even have a few low spots out back where I could build a ramp, and just drive it up on the truck if need be.

Highridge,

It still has decent capacity. It stands tall, but still fairly deep.
