Now you can customize the display of the forum by selecting a style sheet/skin in your display preferences at http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/editdisplay.pl. You must be logged in to edit your display options.

The way this works is you select a theme, and the forum will change colors/styles. There is really no limit to how many different color and text themes we can have, but we have started with these:

Default Theme (What you see now)
Small Fonts (Same, but with smaller fonts)
Large Fonts (Same, but with larger fonts)
Alternating Cell Colors (Same but some table cells are grey in this theme, and any listing of posts has rows alternating from grey to white)
Greys (Same but all cells go from white to grey. Headers are still light blue)
Browns (Medium brown headers, light brown cells, some grey trim, and brown links)
Kubota Theme (Need I say more? Orange and orange.)
John Deere Theme (Same, but green)
New Holland/Ford Theme (And blue...)
Case/MF/Farmall Theme (Red with grey)
No Theme/Plain Text (All style removed, if that's what you're looking for!)

So now, you can see green, or blue, or orange all the time while another user might be looking at a different color. The forum works exactly the same no matter which style you choose.

If you have any suggestions please let me know... as far as any color changes for the themes or along those lines.

Also, the file attachments work again. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Enjoy...

Almost forgot!

Another feature is now working. Also at http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/editdisplay.pl you can now set your 'Forum Home' to display categories or forums. To see what the categories display looks like, go to http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/categories.pl ... new messages are shown on a category-by-category basis there. The advantage to viewing categories is a much smaller Forum Home page, which will load quicker and let you see which categories have new messages and which don't. When you click a category, you are then shown the forums only in that category. Again, a much smaller and quicker page to load...

I checked out the new themes and they're pretty nice. I do have a coment to make about a couple of them though. I've change to the jd theme and the darker green seems to be a little bright for my eyes. I think it would help if it were darked one shade. Also, I think it would be better to lighten the light green back ground by one shade. With the colors the way they are, It makes it a little hard for my eyes to focus correctly. This may just be my 50 yr old eyes, I don't know. The N/H Ford darker Blue seemed a little bright to me also. If it's just me, tell me so and i'll go get some glasses. I really like idea of the colors though. Makes the site look cool with one's tractor colors on the screen.

Thanks

Muhammad,

All I can say is double WOW! I really don't know how you do all this stuff, but am really glad you do. This board would be fantastic without all the "extras" but believe me, I appreciate it. I turned on the brown, and it is the easiest on my 50+ eyes. I echo what Harv said about doing all the latest upgrades LIVE! Even Yahoo can't do that!

Many, many thanks for all you do here for us.

I agree with your double wow and I also like the brown format. It's really easy to read.

Muhammad,

Thanks for the improvements. Makes the board easier to read. Heck, gave me inspiration to learn to do those little faces.

Right now I'm using the ford/NH theme. I'll stick with it for a couple of days, give it a chance. After the comments, I am going to try the brown. I've got 50+ eyes too.
