New Forums, Categories

New forums have been added to cover Case-IH, Cub Cadet, Kioti, and Massey Ferguson tractors and equipment! The forums are in a new category, Other Brands & Equipment, which also includes Grey Market Tractors, Lawn & Garden, Construction Equipment, Ag Tractors & Machinery, and Ag Tractor Repair.

We're also considering merging the Buying and Pricing forums together, for Kubota, New Holland/Ford, and John Deere. We want to keep the total number of forums at a reasonable number; currently there are 33. Let me know if you have any comments on the forum topics... and what you would like to see.

Good idea if you need to keep the number of forums down. I still tend to use the "last XX hours" format. As always Muhammad, you keep improving the board. "Kaizen" in the language/culture of Kubota's homeland /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Hopefully, as the weather turns activity in the Tractor Projects forum will pick up. Thanks for all you do to keep this board what it is /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I agree, if you would like to reduce the number, merge the Buying and Pricing topics. You might also consider merging Owning and Other. I really don't see much of a difference between the postings on the two. That way, there would be two categories for each big-3 brand, one dedicated to the potential buyer (Buying-Pricing merger), and one for the current owner (Owning/Other merger).

For the regulars, I don't think the number of categories (less or more) would impact them much, they all tend to wander around every category, be it one or a hundred! Where it may help is someone coming aboard, or an infrequent visitor.

BTW… I do like the new layout. Especially putting Kioti, Cub and MF in their own categories rather than owners having to go to Other. I would like to see more activity on those brands, with the new layout, the owner's may feel more welcome. As always, nice job!

I have a suggestion for a new category! How about a category on vintage tractors? Alot of us don't have new tractors, but have vintage models, for many reasons. In my case, I was set to buy a NH TC29, when my wife's truck broke down. I had to buy a new pick-up, and I couldn't afford two loans. I did a lot of research and got a 1951 Ferguson TO-20. It runs great, and although it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a new tractor, it should handle what I throw at it, and the price was right!

Because of its widespread popularity across all color lines, how about a separate category for Front End Loaders & FEL Attachments...

or Breakdown Implements to subcategories ex.:
Rotary Mowers, Rear Blades, Tillers, Box Blades, etc.

also some Quick Reference categories ex.:

Tractor Dealers according to color
Implement Dealers, general or brand indexed
Implement Manufacturers
Tractor Manufacturer Specials, financing, packages, pricing
Recall/Bulletin/Safety Issues
Equipment Auctions
Buyer Beware...
...

I think that's a good idea. Stuff in each of those tends to be similar, & I go by the thread subject anyway. I'd be open to merging of owning and other too.

I do have a suggestion regarding profiles. It would be nice if there was a little granularity in people's profiles (like state or zip code, or equipment). What I'm thinking of is being able to search on profile characteristics (like where someone lives, or what kind of equipment they have). Lots of ways to implement that...
