Actually go 15' so you can get a 14' OHD.

Yes, this is true for a OHD. We use sliders around here for our big doors so no need for the extra 1'. Good point though.

On the eave side I need 22" of over head clearance, but on the gable side I could go 11' opening. I think that would make all the difference in the world if it was a camper that I wanted to roll in that 12" makes 90% of them fit. Thanks

That why we go with sliders around here. I built the door in this picture, 12x20, for $400. That includes the lumber, osb, track, latches, and siding. I used a aluminum end pieces that accept the osb and have a built in J channel for the siding. Got them at my local hardware in 14' lenght for $50 each. Made making the door a 2 hour job.

The pictures show the outside and inside of the door. The inside pic is not the best but all I could find. Its to the far left.

I just don't want you to go through what I go through. I have to pay to store my boat. That extra 2K would be money well spent. I have dropped that in storage fees.

Chris

We bought out in Amelia County, we live in Chesterfield and my wife likes her house. I am only about a 30 minute drive. On Saturdays even when I have to work, I can get there at 8AM and head back home at noon since it is so close. The builder is coming in from Ohio. He built my last pole barn and I was very happy with the construction as it held up very well over the years.

Some Grading Pictures before the rain has stopped the project.

You can see where I have to build up this corner some more. I know better than try and work with mud and dirt, you do way more damage than good.

I have 4 x 4 posts in the ground near my property pins. Always a good idea to mark the place with easy to see posts after the land has been surveyed. Don't put the post right next to the pins or even hit the steel rods. The next person surveying will not be happy.

I have a New Holland TC33D with Hydrostatic Drive. It is a sweet little tractor with loaded tires. It does all that I ask of it.

Final Drawings with a few minor changes to be made. I am taking these to the County for approval and comments. I already found out that supports under the trusses have to be bolted. I cannot believe that they would use 2 x 4. I would think that they have to be 2 x 10 or larger?

Main building is 40 x 64 x 12. One porch is 20 x 16 on the left and the one porch
on the front is 32 x 16.

Mine looks kind of similar. Just got the debris pile and pounds and pounds of nails & screws picked up.

48' x 56' x 12' + (2) 13' x 56' lean to's.

I specified SYP #1 rafters which approximately doubled the structural capacity over SPF#2 rafters as intended by the builder.

That looks like a lot of storage capacity and very well built. Did it add a lot to the cost? Do you now have attic storage. We get very limited snow (was this part of your decision) and if it does it never lasts more than about 3-4 days before it starts to melt. On the roof will have OSB/15# felt under the metal (26GA AZ55 SS80) and also I will have OSB under the same gauge metal on the walls so this should give my building some additional strength. SS 80 is the ASTM Grade for this steel. Most metal buildings would use this. I have sold some SS 50 but this is very rare. SS 80 has a minimum yield strength of 80,000 ksi with a tensile strength of 110000/125000 ksi. Having said this I think the most important factor will be the rib design and the thickness of the material.

My building looks so small when the flags are staked off, yet it is twice the size I just sold. I wonder if everyone feels that way until it is under roof.
