Not too confuse the issue, but, you might want to check some away dealers.
In our local paper yesterday they had a new 2210, FEL, 62 MMM, Ballast box for $12,790.

Hambone,

Thanks for the price quote: the (barely) used 2210 with FEL / ballast is only @ $10,500 + $1400 for the MMM = @ $12K + tax.

Unfortunately - I don't think Massachusetts is a hot spot for tractors in general - so there is only a few JD dealers in the entire state - plus our prices tend to be a bit higher in general. I don't want to drive an hour each way for a $20 part.

I've attached a file that I made up with all the models I've compared - when I look at new prices - then the Kubotas look like the best value.

Bird:

Yeah I'd REALLY like a B2910 or the new B7800 - but that's EVEN more than I can expect the wife to approve! Other thing is weight - I have to mow over my septic tank - prefer to keep the weight as low as possible - and the 2910 weighs another 300-400 pounds over a B7500 / B2610

Thanks for the feedback!

Dan

If you are interested in a used machine, you might be able to find an older used JD 4100 more readily than the relatively new models 2210 or 4010.

In your spreadsheet, I would think that the loader capacity for the 4010 would be higher - I know it is for the 4100.

Dan,
First, welcome to TBN. I have a B7500 with a BH and if you are looking for general feedback, I love it. It is a lot more tractor than it looks like. I also like your spreadsheet. You're doing your homework. I did a very similar spreadsheet and the one thing I didn't do is spend some time making a list of everything I might ever want to do with the tractor and then match the specifications to those tasks. Fortunately the B7500 has done basically everything I have needed to do. I really think it is one of the biggest bang for the buck units in that size range. If you have any specific questions, I will be glad to answer them.

I would like to suggest that you start a new thread regarding your questions about these 2 tractors. We have been watching Lildozer go through the motions of a major purchase and we are now waiting to hear if there is any "buyer's remorse", dents in his new tractor or any significant damage to his property since his Tuesday delivery. We don't want his story to get lost in a new topic.... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey guys, thought I'd let you know how my 2230 is working out so far. I've only had about an hour each evening after work, before dark to play with it, so I havent done anything major yet.
first things first.
Kabota 2230 w/bar tires
loader w/ toothbar
landpride 5' rake
ballist box
+ delivery=$12,450+tax

Let me say first to anyone thinking about getting a toothbar,.....You may not think that piece of metal is worth $250 or $350 (mine was $350 installed) but once you see what your bucket will do with teeth you'll be very glad you got such a bargan.
A couple years ago my buddy let me borrow his JD 4110 w/loader (a slightly bigger tractor) but no teeth, the differance teeth make is impressive! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
So far I've torn up some briars and small saplings(2").
Overall I'm very happy with the 2230, but I need a little more seat time. Hopefully I'll get some this weekend. I'll let you know more after I get more time on it.

Lildozer,
No modifications to your house or shop yet?.... When I first got my tractor, I modified the left side of my garage door trim with my FEL. It took me a while to realize how far those things stick out in the front.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif But it all worked out OK because later that week I put a matching modfication to the right side of the garage door trim with my backhoe..... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Glad you like the toothbar. They really do rip things up...

Yea, Greg actully I learned about modifying when my buddy let me borrow that 4110. I went to park it beside the house and ripped a hole in the siding with the FEL, shook the whole house (scared the heck out of the wife). I also learned about ballist weight that weekend when I rolled a large rock back into the bucket instead of forward down the bank as intended, and the rear end shot up.(DUH!)

Congratualtions LilDozer. I know you're excited about your new purchase and will have some great seat time. I found out about remodeling when I forgot to put my ROPS back down before going into my low-roofed shed. There were a lot of rotten boards that I needed to replace anyway, but I hadn't planned on wearing them on my head! I've ordered a Woods toothbar and I'm wondering if anyone can address how much this helps getting a load into the bucket. I have a heck of a time getting things like a bunch of leaves and roots that have all rolled up together into the bucket. Once I seem to get the loader into the pile and roll back a little, it just all falls out in font. I even keep a little pressure on the HST pedal so I'm always going into the pile, but it usually doesn't pick up much. Will the toothbar help to get more in? Seems like it will. I want one anyway just to make digging more effective. I hate to start a whole new thread just for this little question. Maybe Greg, you can answer it for me. Thanks, John

John,
I very seldom take off my toothbar, so I really can't make a good comparison about whether it helps or not. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I know that I struggle with the same thing at times myself. Just today I was clearing and leveling an area with a lot of roots and debris and without a pile to push it into, it is difficult to fill the bucket. I imagine I was probably getting a little more in the bucket than I would have without the toothbar though.

I can tell you that the few times that I have taken my toothbar off, it dramatically reduced what I could do with my FEL. If you are doing any clearing and grading work, a toothbar is money well spent.

Hope this helps,

Greg
