I have been to the board many times, but first time posting. I wanted to let you know a problem I had with my 2006- 2305. 150hrs.
My 2305 stopped starting for no good reason. It would turn over fine. The battery checked out good with volt meter and cell inspection. I cleaned the terminals anyway and re-cleaned the ground to the frame. Checked fuel and filter. Checked air intake. Plus other things all were fine.
The thing which was lacking was the "click" on the fuel solinoid. I removed the solinoid which is just above the fuel filter on the engine. Attached with 2 10mm bolts. I checked that the solinoid was working. It plunged out and back with the turn of the ignition, so I thought all was well. I put it back on.
Just to be sure, I bought a new battery. Still no go. I was very frustrated
I had the JD dealer tech make a house call. He said that there was a problem with the solinoid by the sound of it. I learned that the solinoid has 2 relays. One to move it out and the other to hold it open. The plunger was moving out, but not staying out. It was not the solinoid or one of the two relays. Rather it was one of the small diodes between the relays and the solinoid. He had to really dig to find it. The diode which was on the "hold open" relay was corroded. He simply cleaned it with solution and put it back on. If it fails, I can put a new one in at a very cheap cost myself.
So $230 for a $5.oo di-ode.... go figure. Just happy to be back at it. I hope this helps somebody.:confused2:
