I also have the option of this guy right here:

KUBOTA GRAND L-3940 TRACTOR LOADER 4X4

For those who don't feel like clicking, it's a KUBOTA GRAND L-3940 TRACTOR LOADER 4X4 - for $22950, Hydrostatic with 39hp

Now, this option doesn't come with a backhoe... so I would have to tack that expense on.

2013 Kubota Grand L 3940 Tractor, Loader, 4 Wheel drive, HST trans. One owner garage kept homeowner owned. Tractor has ..... 235 ....easy hours. Tractor equipped with....Intelli dash package, LCD cluster, H/M/L Ranges with 2 speed rear range, Cruise, 3 pt., PTO, Drawbar, Rear sway links, Rear arm extensions, Folding ROPs, Nylon roof canopy, Tilt wheel, Halogen lights, Running lights, Flashers, Diff. Lock, 2 or 4 w.d., Power steering, Brush guard, Removeable loader, Removeable bucket, R4 tires, Auxiliary rear canopy lights, Turn Signals, Grab rails, Speed sensitivity control, L.E.D. info. In doing research, people seem to think that HST is great for loader work, and poorer for plow and 'in ground work'... due to overheating, and parts breaking... etc.

HST's are at least as realiable as gear/clutch machines, and in many cases more reliable, depending on who is running the clutch. I have never had one overheat, the larger ones have an extra radiator section. The only reason they are poorer for plowing is that there is some power loss over a gear machine. They still work fine for plowing a field.

I would have to give the Grand L Kubota a very hard look. That is a couple of steps up from the Kioti feature wise. The Kioti Equivalent is a NX4510, But the Kubota has an advanced Hydrostatic transmission that is not quite matched by even the deluxe Kioti NX4510. Close but the Kubota has the hydrostat + transmission that has a Hi-Lo position on each range of the hydro that allows you to rapidly change torque within a range on the fly without stopping to drop the hydro into a lower range when more torque is needed or back up to a Higher speed when more speed is needed on the fly while moving or even automatically. This in effects gives you a 6 range hydro, but without shifting gears within each range. This is achieved by having a variable swashplate in the hydraulic motor as well as the usual variable swashplate in the hydraulic pump.

Take a hard look at this deluxe machine and its features.

Seems to me like the 2015 Kioti CK4010H might be the way to go... It's got just as much HP as the used kubota listed above, it's brand new, it will come WITH the backhoe, and I will be able to earn a large pile of rewards points by swiping this thing onto my amex.

http://www.leisuresportsnturf.com/2...tory.htm?ID=22702550&Brand=263&Type=2997&fm=1

I love reward points.

They're even both orange. No one will be able to tell.

Thoughts?

I have nothing but good things to say about Kioti, and nothing but good things to day about Leisure / Hollinger's Sports and Turf (Hollinger's in Ephrata is the sister store of Leisure Sports and Turf). While they do park some tractors at Leisure Sports n Turf, the tractor service and sales guys seem to be up at Hollinger's most of the time. However, they told me if I need service I can drop off at Leisure and they will truck it up to Hollinger's.

When I was tractor shopping last year, I initially called Leisure about a certain tractor and they hooked me up with Hollinger's. Great guys. Great deal on my DS4510HS. Set it up quickly and delivered all the way down to Perkiomenville for no charge. They went out of their way to source a rear remote that was backordered. The sale guy drove 60 miles round trip to get one from another dealer so that he could install it right away and I didn't have to wait 2 weeks.

I bought my first Kioti in 2006 (a used 2004 LB1914 with loader). I worked that tractor very hard and found it to be a little tank. I owned it for 9 years an sold it to my cousin earlier this year. It has 650 hours on it and has been 100% reliable. I have only had the DS4510HS for a year and about 100 hours and no complaints.

Regarding Transmissions there are so many combinations out there that it would be laborious and probably a waist of time to name them all unless you have questions about them. You seem to have already decided on HST and frankly, I've never heard of someone regretting getting HST. It's a good choice especially for those new to tractors.

I like HST. I also like power shuttles. When I was younger I thought a fully synchronized non-power shuttle shift was supper slick but now my knees are too old for all the clutching for loader work. Hydraulic shuttle or HST or CVT or torque converter or Glide shift for me these days.

My opinion would be that the CK25 would be way too small and even the L3940 might be (but is way 'more' tractor). Check out the backhoe specs for the Woods BH90-X of Kubota BH92 (both likely choices for the L3949) and compare to the specs for the Kioti hoe. Not sure how they compare (however, I don't think you can get a hydraulic thumb on the Kioti).
People seem to LOVE there L Grand tractors but the DK also has lot of fans. Maybe like comparing a Mercedes C class to a Honda Accord? Both seem to be very good tractors.

One of my biggest reservations about Kioti was the dealor network but given the above endorsement that looks to be a moot point.

One of the largest dealers around my area is a combination New Holland/Kioti dealer. They are a "five paw" dealer. They have a long line of Kioti's

Ok. Just not in New Hampshire. As per my imperfect assessment. Otherwise I'd own an NX. (and the Kubota insurance).

Kioti is definitely still spotty dealer coverage.. great is some places, and near Non-existent in others. JD and Kubota seem to be everywhere.

Hey this is unbelievable feedback... Thank you all for the help and support.

In doing more research on the L3940... im not seeing ANYTHING for as cheap as the listing above, and certainly not with as few hours (230 'easy' hours... Whatever that means).

The only thing that its missig is the backhoe, but even if I spend 8k on a backhoe, its only going to run me a total of 30k... Roughly 5 more than the Kioti.

I dont understand why the l3940 is so much 'better' when the hirsepower specs are basiy the same as the Kioti?

This all comes down to new vs used, and if this is a goodvalue for the price etc.

I guess the final question is, would you go NEW kioti, with the warranty and newness, or the used kubota, with better hydraulics (?) and features... And 235 hours).

Im counting votes!!!
