hello all - i'm new here. got a 1 JD 5055E bought it in june got a FEL with a SSQA took 4 weeks for that to show up, but it was worth it to me. have a 78" general purpose bucket, a set of pallet forks and a grapple rake running off the rear remotes. put about 64 hour on it so far cutting grass, doing firewood tasks, and clearing some land.

anyway some pics

day i brought it home. feel free to make fun of the mower (woods RM90), but at least i know it's mine, or in this case my father's

went back for a loader and picked up the loader

put it to work

don't have any pics with the forks

Very nice setup!!! I love the size of that bucket. I have had my 5045D for a year and a half, and I still love it and brag about it also!!

John deere (in my experience has always made quality stuff, expenisve, but nice and parts always seem to be available)

that is a poplar limb big tree 40" across where is broke off. but poplar is not a dense hardwood like oak is and that one was fairly soft in the middle

IMO the 5 series give some of the best bang for your buck out there...

That is not a problem, That is the fun part. The problem is that some of those solutions require an attachment that you don't already own and your friendly dealer wants’ a LOT more markup on those then he did on the original tractor. Welcome to EBay etc. and your local flee trader. Patience is not only a virtue but will also save you lots of money.

Thanks. Of course great minds think alike.
Two bits of advice. One check all your radiator hose clamps and snug them up if you can ,now and again at 50 hours. The 50 hour check is in the owners manual but I didn't come on to it until I had a leak at about 100 hours. Second keep your ROPS up whenever your using the loader. You may only need it once but once is enough. Don't forget to put it back down before putting it in a garage if the door isn't high enough. When I build a garage for mine the doors will be plenty big enough as mine has a canopy and soft cab so it is always up.

I have heard of the lose clamp problem before, but had forgotten about it. this is the first tractor i've ever had/used with a ROPS, and it's a good idea to keep it up, but i find myself under trees fairly often so it remains down

Definitely check the hose clamps...mine leaked at about 16 hours
