Does anyone have any information on whether it is better to mount a backhoe on a sub-frame or a 3-point hitch? The salesman says that his company sells tractors with backhoes mounted to the hitch and they work just fine. HELP. Gerry

Gerry, I would not consider anything but a subframe mounted hoe on a compact tractor. I have a New Holland 1920 with the 758C backhoe and it will pull the tractor around in tough digging. One of my brother firefighters had a Kabota 2910 with a 3PH mounted hoe and ended up having to split the tractor to replace a leaking seal (which the local dealer stated was from the BH). I have heard the argument that "I'm only going to lightly use the BH" but what happens when difficult digging is encountered? Just my opinion, Bill C

Go with the frame mounted one...it is stronger, and your tractor will last longer.
