New Holland 3930 1996
I have a 1996 New Holland 3930. I replaced the safety switch and wiring harness along with transmission cover gasket. I have transmission oil slowly coming out the safety switch wiring as it exits the cover. The filler cap and the small breather vent cap is located on top is approximately 6” away from wiring but shows no oil leaking and the vent is clear. I purchased another wiring and gasket and installed again making sure everything is installed properly. I’m still having the same problem with this 2nd install. Oil level is ok. Any Suggestions?

Welcome to TBN.

The oil is coming out of the wiring? That switch screws into the cover with a copper sealing washer. It sounds to me like you have two defective switches.

The safety switch is operating correctly but the two wire wiring harness exists the top of the transmission plate on its top. There is a rubber grummet that captures the wires as they exit the top plate through a factory hole in the top plate. I also sealed around the grummet on top and bottom and the oil continues to pass to the outer surface. No oil coming out of small transmission vent located only inches away. This is all different from your diagram supplied.

Sounds like you have the 8x2 transmission? Maybe the vent is plugged. I didn't have that problem when I replaced the switch. But the vent drips, just like the dealer warned Dad it would, 30 years ago.

Sorry, I was thinking the newer transmission.
Oil level is correct?

I’ve got what I believe is the same neutral safety switch on my 1990 4830.
I replaced the switch probably 25-30 years ago and as you can see in photo I silconed around it at time of install. Been so long I can’t remember if it was weeping a little fluid out or I just did it for good measure. I can tell you it’s never leaked since, also I’ve never had any weeping at the vent either.

Kind of reminds me of the brake fluid sensor on my 97 Powestroke diesel pickup truck that Fords had to replace under recall some years back. Seems as though brake fluid (which is flammable) was migrating out of the sensor and through the wiring pigtail and causing trucks to catch on fire, so Fords replaced it under recall but also added a fuse in the pigtail so if the new one leaked, the fuse would open. Mine never weeped but I had it replaced anyway.

I'd say your sensor is defective.

Purchased from New Holland?
Purchased from individual about 6 years ago. Approx 1500 hrs. Used for bush hogging only. Light brush, nothing heavy. No problems until safety switch quit working and I replaced with new switch, plate gasket and wiring harness. I can’t understand the oil leaking at wiring grummet and not the small vent located about 6 inches away. I’ve checked the vent and it’s clear and oil level is also ok. I’ve replaced the harness again with same results.
