if the chains are that stretched , removing links will shorten the chains , BUT the worn links will now wear the teeth on the sprockets pretty quickly
for power , run a # 12 or #10 gauge wire with a 20 amp fuse ... but do the smart thing , run it inside an old garden hose for added protection ... use FINE multi strand wire , not solid wire ... put the fuse as close to the battery as possible ( so if the wire grounds anywhere , the fuse pops instead of cooking the length of wire )
