New Holland 914 MMM/Rear Discharge

   / New Holland 914 MMM/Rear Discharge #11
If I remember correctly, they actually want the deck tilted forward.

Now a question for you, I can't find my original manual for the mower right now. Does it give any advice on stretching the big cushion springs? Bush hogging on Monday and I knocked both of mine off. I now need to reinstall them so I can put the deck back on.

jwstewar,
I was rereading your post #2.
I have a question and I have an answer for your question.
First the question, you say you were bush hogging and knocked off both of yours (belts).
Were you bush hogging with a finish mower?
My 914 MMM has only one belt.
Maybe were are not on the same page an/or are talking about different mowers.

I put my belt on using a light weight ratchet strap. I hooked the hook on the springs bracket and the other end to what ever it was that lined up well and tighten the strap until the belt would go on.

I didn't knock the belts off, I knock the springs off the rear connection. I ended up using a piece of bailing wire around the spring and used a ratchet strap anchored to the car to pull them enough to get them back on.

I can't find my manual right now, I've been looking for it. I know there have been several post on this on this website and others. I can't find them here and I won't post from other websites to here. If you want to see them, do a Google search for them.

Guys,

I put a set of Gator blades on my 914a. Huge difference in cut quality. The part number from New Holland is AUB 163680. They are about $34/ea. I found my deck mows fantastic with the back about 1/8 or so higher than the front with these blades since the clippings are cut about four times and the discharge is reduced by 50%. I think if memory serves me the same blade is also for the 914a side discharge model.

You got a part number and price?

I have been thinking about finding a different source for blades.

You ever tried other brand? Just wondering if there were other you might recommend or recommend staying away from.

Re: New Holland 914 MMM/Rear Discharge/Gator Blade

Hi,

I am not sure if you needed 60" or 72" Gators for your mower. I think the larger blades for the 914a are AUB 163681 and about $37/ea. Check with Messick's they have them in stock and can ship them to you. I do not use anything but OEM blades, filters and other parts with the exception of oil. I use Rotella 5w40 and for the transmission/hyd system Kubota Sudt2 synthetic. I like that fluid especially in the winter time with the New Holland cold weather filters as you get less noise through the valve since it flows better and the holes are larger in those filters. Performance is also improved in warmer weather as well. Since orange tractors are very susceptible to hydro whine it is excellent in the Boomers and makes them quieter as well.
