OMG!!! It started for the first time in a couple of weeks and it is running as I type.
I jumped the solenoid to the battery and I started right up
So what am I chasing now??

Should the solenoid click I key is just on? Or cranking?

The solenoid should allow fuel into the injector pump when you are running & stop it when you turn the key off. SO ... you want it powered when in start or run and depowered in "off"

Thank you!! Will it hurt to run it with the solenoid jumped to the battery. I need to get this in to service for a couple of days.

Long as you have an easy way to disconnect the jump to shut her down, you should be ok ... just make sure whoever is working on it knows what needs to be done to turn the tractor off quickly & reliably. If you have a toggle switch that you can insulate & tuck out of the way but handy, that may work until you trace down the wiring issue.

Some solenoids use a different holding circuit to minimize heat. I don't believe your solenoid is that type.
For some reason you are not getting power to your fuel solenoid when you turn the key. This may be a bad relay or something in your safety circuit (seat presence, not in gear, brake on, PTO not engaged...)

I will be the only one working on it (and under it) Book says the number 2 slot is an 8a breaker. Swapped it for a 10a fuse and cranked it. Fuse intact but no start.

Connect the solenoid wire to a trouble light and it will be easier to trouble shoot. Do you have a service manual or wiring schematic for her. I would guess it uses a relay but it could be just wired.
