Buying Advice New Holland vs Kubota vs Mahindra

My vote is for New Holland. If your looking for more HP with HST you’ll have to look into the boomer series though as the workmaster 50, 60 and 70 are all shuttle shift. I test drove a workmaster 50 and 70 and neither one had a stiff clutch at all though so you might want to test one out at the dealer just for the heck of it. But the workmaster series is a lot of tractor for the money and will handle your implements with ease.

Remember that that standard L Kubota's still have a clutch. It's needed to start the tractor and to engage the PTO. I believe the Grand L Kubota's do not have a clutch but I'm not 100% sure on that.

What's the chance that your new tractor will just get flooded again with the next hurricane? Would be a shame to see a brand new tractor under 6ft of salt water.

I've never had to clutch to start the L3301HST. Unless you're going shuttle shift the clutch is just there for the PTO and changing ranges. That said, a clutch is hardly that big of a deal. However, in order to keep existing implements the Grand Ls should be considered anyway.

Mahindra doesn't use a DPF (diesel particulate filter) to meet Tier IV emissions, they spent $30 million to redesign the engine so it meets the requirements. No DPF means no regen or emissions related issues down the road.

Regarding tractor size, how much PTO HP do you need?

I agree it is, I love my Workmaster 60. I looked at all the major brands in this size tractor and the Kubota M6060 & Workmaster was my top two, obviously picked the NH. But, with having a bum knee myself I thought the same thing, the clutch isn't stiff at all and I'll be just fine. After a long day of constant loader work I need a couple ibuprofen. So I can see the OP's worry here.

OP, go test them all, compare specs, see which one fits you as in the comfort and control layout. I would say the dealer is most important, but you say this dealer carries all three.

I have a Mahindra 2538 and love it. I upgraded from a 28MaxXL. It is a workhorse. I haven't had any issues with either tractor. I also didn't pay anywhere near 27k. I got mine for ~21k out the door tractor and loader. Given your dealer sells all 3 I would probably go with the one that has the best price. I don't think you could go wrong on any of those tractors.

New Holland Workmaster 50/60/70 series offers a lot of value for the dollar. If my knee goes out completely and I go HST then the only option in that size is a Mahindra, Kubota, ot perhaps LS. The smaller Workmaster in New Holland has HST but is not the same size class tractor as the MX or larger Workmaster.

regarding the flooded by hurricane comment- Kubotas KTAC insurance is priced great with a very low deductible and covers practically everything with great customer service- I speak from experience- I had a mini ex get submerged by saltwater and it was replaced very promptly and very fair financially. New machine also is covered by KTAC with no premium increase.

I'm not comparing different tractors. All I know is I would NEVER buy another Mahindra. I think the low/high gearing stinks. The bucket power is weak and the darn thing won't start sometimes because some switch or relay isn't working correctly. Hydro pedals are not ergonomic. The one on my 8 year old Sears lawn mower works better. I only have 11 hours on my tractor and if the dealer offered me 80 cents on the dollar, he could have it back. The dealer is very far away and I took it back once already with 2 hours on it because it wasn't put together correctly and was leaking fluid. Aluminum parts in the seat mechanism is a recipe for disaster. The whole seat swivel system for the backhoe is mickey mouse. My MAX26 is for sale. $18,500 and it's yours. I live in western Washington. Come and get it.

The last time my tractor was flooded, I was out of the country and couldn't get back in time. I now put my equipment in safe places when I have to travel so it's not likely to happen again.

In regard to dealing with the humid and salty environment, I've learned to drive my tractor right on to my trailer and raise all implement up and put blocks under them, then I have to wash every thing off my tractor and implement. That's the only way I keep them from rusting away.
