New Holland warning

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( What is your policy for warranty work? If I was to call you up and tell you that one of my couplers on the rear remote was leaking on my TN would you send me a new one to replace it? )</font>

Robert - Thanks for asking. If you had a leaking coupler on your TN tractor that was under New Holland warranty, I would send you a new coupler that day at no charge, and this would be the same way with any warranty issue that we could both agree to the root of, as long as you or a qualified acquaintance felt comfortable installing the part. It would be your responsibility to send the old part back.

Thanks, Ted.

Ted, thanks for coming to "face the music" on this issue. I applaud your honesty and your procedures for correcting minor warranty issues. I guess my question relates to the original post in this thread which said:

Just thought you guys should know NH has sent out a warning letters to all dealers warning us about internet sales and how it is in violation of our dealer contract.

If, indeed, it is a violation of that contract then what I think, or anyone else thinks, is a moot point. Your sending NH a link to this thread and TBN is as good as you can do if you are held to a dealer contract by New Holland.

Like Robert, I am extremely happy with my dealer. I also have to agree with the situations you pointed out regarding some dealers. I don't know if your evidence is concrete or anecdotal, but its not my intention to challenge your word either way. Those occasions seem to be justified in my opinion.

MikePA raised some very valid questions in the beginning of this thread and I share those concerns 100%. I don't think they need to be restated here. My specific concern involves the Class III hydro tractors that had a problem slipping out of gear when going downhill. That warranty repair required those tractors to be split. Even the most "rachet head" amoung us would probably balk at splitting his brand new tractor. Did you have any "out of state" sales with this problem? I'm thinking if I'm a dealer with 10 customers with this problem and a local guy shows up with a tractor he bought from you, he's gonna be my lowest priority. Is there a part in the NH dealer contract that says this isn't allowed?

Thanks for listening to my "slant" on the issue. I bet those folks close to you in NC feel the same way about you as I do about my dealer here in Texas. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Frankly, none of this is any of my business, but that never stopped me from giving my opinion anyhow. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks, that was what I was wondering. I know some companies do not send warranty parts to customers. They only want dealers to do the work and diagnosis.

Bob, I think we are both saying the same thing but different ways. From my understanding, different areas have different sales tax rates and such. So internet sales would affect dealers in other states. It would hurt those dealers which is not good for CNH or the New Holland customers. I don't think CNH has a problem with Internet sales as they want to sell as many units as possible but they don't want to cut their own throat in the mean time. In time hopefully the dealers and CNH corp can get together and figure out a way to make everything work.

Where I am, there are multiple New Holland dealers but they are at least 40-50 miles apart from each other. In the areas between them they compete with each other. Actually, my dealer does at times compete with their other store if they don't know that the customer is talking to two different salesman to get a better deal.

I am not saying pay more for a New Holland. I have and still strongly consider buying a Valtra. Why, because I like thier tractors. Will I, hard to say because they do cost more then the like size and class New Holland but I do trust both dealers and have a good relationship with them both. I buy equipment to use and if I have a problem I need to know my dealer will help me out. I know this about a couple dealers here that I deal with and I know some other dealers that can care less about me and if my equipment breaks down even after I gave them a lot of money. So for me and a lot of others it is about buying a product from a dealer that we trust. It is not about paying more for the color paint and to be honest, I get as good a deal on most equipment if not better then what most other people will get shopping around. I get a good deal because my dealer knows I will give them the first shot at any equipment purchases I make. We help each other and it has nothing to do with the color of the paint. They just happen to sell blue. They also sell Buhlers though and I am thinking one of the Buhler Genesis tractors would look great in my barn (if for some reason you ever need a tractor over 150 hp, buy a Buhler Genesis).

From re-reading this before I post it I just realized something. I deal with dealerships as a long term relationship because I farm. Most people deal with a dealership once or twice in their lifetime and look at a dealership as a store like Home Depot or Wal-Mart. So from looking at it from the Home Depot customer perspective I could understand the problem people have with this CNH policy. But looking at it from the farmers perspective I agree with CNH as it will strengthen their dealerships and keep the people running NH equipment happy. But like I said earlier, in time I hope the dealers and CNH get together and figure something out that addresses the internet and sales over the internet. Who knows, it could be something as simple as improving quality control so there are not as many warranty issues (which they have been trying to do).

Ted Corriher,

Will you still be allowed by CNH to advertise your prices in print in the Heavy Equipment Trader Magazine as you have done in the past?

They have an online version of the magazine so I suspect that would be banned.

I know that Mahindra dealers are not allowed to advertise tractor prices in print but only allowed to state what a monthly payment would be for a tractor bought from said dealer's ad.

Regardless of the CNH ban on internet pricing; internet pricing is here to stay thanks to TBN, the internet and the good members that post recent tractor purchase prices.

Thanks to general discussion at TBN I've been able to ascertain what a good price for a NH tractor would be and been able to track down dealers with good tractor pricing.

Thanks to the internet and email it is easy to get quotes from different dealers and most are willing to make shipping arrangements for their tractors to out of state customers.

I sure hope CNH doesn't stop that.

Robert,
That may be the "official" stand taken by NH, that they only want dealers to diagnose and service machines for warranty work. But it's the dealer that makes the decision to send you a part, hoping you have diagnosed it correctly and can install it properly.

I had a different situation with my local dealer recently. And this is why I will continue to deal with him now and in the future. I bought a TC18 some time ago. Everyone there knows this may be the last tractor I ever buy from them. I feel I got a good price and good service so far.

When the New Holland News came out before Christmas, they offered some goodies for tractor freaks like ME. Well Mrs. Insp507 thought I needed a new thermometer in the garage and the Grandaughter needed a Tee shirt. She called and placed her order with our salesman, even though those items are taken care of in "parts Dept". She was told, "We'll do better on price than the magazine". When the bill arrived, I discovered she was overcharged by $9. Made one call and the next day my account was credited $15.
THAT'S why I'll buy locally.
They even offered to umm..."loan" me a chipper for a day to get rid of the trees that fell during our recent storm. The salesman lives 5 miles from me and will bring it home for the night.

Ted I'm glad that you came forward and explained the NH warranty issue to all the TBN members.

As I said in an earlier post I applaud your company for your Internet business savvy. I have followed your many offerings at eBay for some time now. It's nice to see a company like yours make people stand up and take notice.

Hi Ted.. and welcome to TBN.

A dealer in Texas had his TN prices listed.. the TN's are still listed.. but now the prices are gone.

I like to see the price listed.. to compare options on the same model.. or between the different models of the same brand.. and to compare between different manufacturers. When I don't see the price.. I usually keep looking.. I want to know how much it will cost.

What the lowest price doesn't give you is personal service.. there is nothing like walking into the dealership and being greeted w/ a smile and having sales & service people know you.

Buy at Tarheel and Corrihers in North Carolina!!

"If you buy anywhere else, you will pay too much."

That is the truth to it all. I saved over $3,000 at the local New Holland dealer here in Jefferson City, TN. They were too HIGH and and not nice people at all to talk with. The 160 mile trip was worth the drive, I even went back to buy more implements from them. They were the best bunch of people I ever dealt with. Took less the 10 minuts to have all the paper work done and loaded. Even gave me three free hats and rain gauges. Who would even think of doing the little things?

Everyone else is out to put the american people in debt and sell low quality products.

I will be back to Corrihers again.
