New Holland Workhorse 75 Question

A friend has a 2020 NH Workhorse 75, I think it's a Workhorse. I do know that it is a 75. He tells me that the tractor doesn't have a regen or Def system in it. I was telling him about junk regen system in my LS MT357. I know that he bought in 2020 new. Why wouldn't that tractor have a Tier 4 system.

Beginning about thirty-three horsepower most tractors have Diesel Particulate Filters.
If there is no DPF there is an alternative incendiary technology, DOC, to burn off very fine particulates (soot). Sometimes exhaust heat is elevated all the time, sometimes exhaust heat is elevated periodically.
Diesel particulates must be burned. THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH.

Beginning about thirty-three horsepower most tractors have Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF).
If not DPF, the less used alternative emission technology is Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC).
Both the DPF and DOC are honeycomb ceramic filters.
The DOC forces engine exhaust over a honeycomb ceramic structure coated with platinum, palladium, and rhodium catalysts. These catalysts oxidize carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water at hot exhaust temperature.

New Holland, Case and Massey Ferguson all use other methods to avoid DEF and REGEN in tractors under 75 HP. It's one of the big reasons I bought my Massey 4707 in 2022.

Somebody posted this when I was searching for a new tractor. It's several years old, so I can't say how accurate it is today.

That doesn't apply at all. His friend has a 2020 model. After 2015 they are a totally different machine, made in a different country, to different standards. They have nothing in common with 2014 or older machines but the color.

Good evening, we just purchased a Powerstar 110 and had looked at the Powerstar 75 (Smaller frame than the 90-120 machines) The 75 didn't have the DEF and the comment from the dealer was that 90 was where the DEF requirements started.. Just the word we got, haven't researched it fully.

Welcome to TBN and congrats on your new Powerstar 110. Anything above 75 HP requires DEF. My 2019 NH Workmaster 75 uses DOC/EGR technology so no regens and no DEF. Best of both worlds. We also have a TBN rule, no pictures, it never happened. I would recommend you start a new thread in the NH Ag Tractors forum and post some pictures. We would like to see the new tractor.
