New hot water heater options, Tankless vs Tank... Electric vs Propane.

I talked to a guy at work today who bought a tank propane water heater 20 years ago, hasn't done any maintenance and is still working great he says, he thinks it's cheaper to operate the electric, I might look into that, thankless heater maintenance is scaring me.

We put in a LPG Rannai 16 years ago mainly because it was a vacation home. We moved into the home full time 7 years ago and we also have hard well water. Never had an issue.

We’re building a new home and will be putting in tankless again.

I've purchased three Rinnai tankless heaters in the past six months. I have no history to report yet. But now that I'm subscribed I'll update if there are any issues.
