Your windows look close to the floor, when I built my house in 2000 the windows had to be a certain distance above the floor or they had to be glazed with safety glass. I think it was around 20 inches. I would hate for you to find out after the siding is finished.

Yep......I would question if those windows would meet code.

Problem is, if I raised them up, they wouldn’t be even with the other doors and windows. The glass is double strength and tempered. Not sure if that is the same as safety glass or not. Fortunately, we have no more inspections, so that won’t be an issue. Biggest problem is fitting an outlet under the window between the window trim and base molding. May just wait and cut those in after all the trim is in.

My windows by a door are tempered per code. Also think about turning outlets 90 degrees, length parallel to floor. Might have to improvise on mounting. Jon

Yeah, 90 degrees is going to be the only way to get outlets in there. May drill holes, and then push wire up later and cut in old work boxes that way I know I get them in between the trim. That’s the good thing about having a basement, put the wires in later without crawling under a house. Haven’t picked trim out yet, so not 100% sure on width at the moment.

The other way to do it is to "picture frame" the outlets with more trim profile, and use a box extension so the outlet is flush with the trim instead of the wall.

Thought about that, and it may be what we do. Can’t really do anything until we figure out what trim we are using.

Heading to pick up the last exterior door that came in this week, and will probably pick up the vast majority of the rough in electrical supplies. Then back to installing windows.

Had to do that with a set of light switches on a pocket door. No other place for them and the wall was not thick enough to allow flush mounting. Jon

Lots of running picking up supplies today, so didn’t start working until after 2pm.

Got most of the windows in, including one that was added later, so I had to frame it in. 4 3x5’s left, so shouldn’t take long to get those in tomorrow. Still have to go back and tape the nail fins after they are all in.

Found that my opening for the rear French door, that I picked up today, wasn’t big enough, so had to adjust the rough opening a bit. Hope to get that door in tomorrow as well.

Finished in the dark, so I’ll get pictures tomorrow.

Going to have decent weather all week so plan to get 75-100 tons of gravel for the driveway if I can. Also need to start getting rebar in for the garage and try to pour it next Friday, before colder weather moves in for good.

Opportunity rich environment for work, that’s for sure!

Got all windows on the Main floor, except one on the backside of the garage in and the rear door as well. Here’s how it turned out. IMG_7654.jpg
