I retired at the end of August and plan on getting into gardening. I decided it wasn't worth the trouble of using the wore out equipment on the place, so while I had the money available I purchased some new implements. I bought a Howse 2 bottom plow with coulters, Howse 5 ft. 3pt spike tooth harrow, a Covington 1 row planter, and a Howse heavy duty row hipper. I finally got the hipper Tuesday after waiting almost 3 months because of manufacturer screw up. The only thing left to get is a pto tiller. The only implement that came with manuals was the planter. I had to download pdf manuals to my computer and print them off. I also downloaded them to my phone, which comes in handy. One thing I made sure to do was go over every nut and bolt and I was amazed at how many were not tight. One of the coulter brackets fell off on the way home and I was lucky that it fell off as I pulled into the yard. I priced equipment within a 150 mile radius and my local dealer was able to sell at very close to what other suppliers were offering. I figured with the cost of gas I saved instead of running all over the country I did pretty good. I paid a little more for the hipper plus the aggravation of waiting so long for it, but it is very well built(it has 6 disc blades) and should last a long time. The only thing I don't like about it is that it has sealed bearings and not greasable ones.
