I retired at the end of August and plan on getting into gardening. I decided it wasn't worth the trouble of using the wore out equipment on the place, so while I had the money available I purchased some new implements. I bought a Howse 2 bottom plow with coulters, Howse 5 ft. 3pt spike tooth harrow, a Covington 1 row planter, and a Howse heavy duty row hipper. I finally got the hipper Tuesday after waiting almost 3 months because of manufacturer screw up. The only thing left to get is a pto tiller. The only implement that came with manuals was the planter. I had to download pdf manuals to my computer and print them off. I also downloaded them to my phone, which comes in handy. One thing I made sure to do was go over every nut and bolt and I was amazed at how many were not tight. One of the coulter brackets fell off on the way home and I was lucky that it fell off as I pulled into the yard. I priced equipment within a 150 mile radius and my local dealer was able to sell at very close to what other suppliers were offering. I figured with the cost of gas I saved instead of running all over the country I did pretty good. I paid a little more for the hipper plus the aggravation of waiting so long for it, but it is very well built(it has 6 disc blades) and should last a long time. The only thing I don't like about it is that it has sealed bearings and not greasable ones.

Congrats on the new toys. But you do realize, don't you, that pics are required? :D

Yep, what Pappy said.

And you're not alone on waiting for implements to be delivered... I've had a hopper seed/fertiliser spreader on order since mid July from a Queensland company. Their products are great; when they finally arrive! Naturally they took my money when I ordered.

My dealership has the same problem with this company too; long delays in delivery and they have some policy of NOT returning calls. However, they have the contract with JD Australia to supply the 'other' implements and Tassie is an Island State with shipping headaches.

It's just one of the things Tasmanians 'put up with' for living here. Part of life sort of stuff. <sigh>

Having retired at 75, I was tired of my old manual equipment and tired of working on it to keep it going. So, having the money, I bought new stuff and more of it. Now with all these toys, I'm tired of building new places to keep all of it.:D
