New JD Tractors

The Landpride FDR2560 price would be $1955. The quality between LandPride and Woods is similar.

Well, the 1st. question would be, Power reverser or hydro. I figured out the 4710 both ways with the following equipment.

4710 Tractor
MFWD
Folding ROPS
12/12 Reverser Transmission
R4 Tires
Dual mid and single rear SCV
Electric diverter for 4th and 5th SCV
Top/tilt field kit

Selling Price of $24300

Add for hydro transmission $980

I don't think this commercial activity should be going on in this forum. Cornhuskerdeere should pay for an ad if he wants to advertise, and all this shopping should go on in private.

Not saying I disagree with you Glennmac, but Muhammad's obviously the guy to decide on that. If he could use the $$ it would sure make sense, but I think consistency is key. If Cornhusker can't then neither should Carver (except for his paid add), the China tractor dealer whose been posting, or anyone else who can make money off of the group.

I for one think the dealers on here add more to the board than they detract. But certainly that would be Muhammad's call.

Just my $0.02

It's nice to see the pricing online but I agree. Maybe he could send out an e-flyer of sale prices like Steve Carver. If you want to recieve it then you could opt-in. At the very least, use the private e-mail, I think that's what it is for.

Nothing wrong with starting a "Commercial Only" area. I'd still like to see the dealers pitching their goods and providing answers to product and tech questions. Perhaps pricing requests, quotes, and promotional notices could be isolated. I'd think the dealers wouldn't mind seeing their "advertising" efforts concetrated where people can see them. Just a thought--I'm sure there's plenty wrong with the idea I just can't think of what they might be right now, half asleep on my way to bed.

Many of us are excited about the new JD series and like to get pricing information. But, in some cases, one has to ask what the forum would look like if every tractor dealer were allowed to do this. To me, it would be repugnant commercial chaos.

Carver at least pays for a banner ad and treads lightly when he slips an occasional advertising blurb into a thread. Art White (Art) and Bob Wolff (Tractorman) have always been very careful to limit their contributions to being helpful or giving information, although they might indicate at the end of such a post that they have something or other that was discussed in stock. Kubmech works at a dealership, I know not where, and always limits himself purely to the highest level of technical advice.

I don't mind if a dealer pops in and somehow mentions he is in business. Then members can email with him, and thereafter, if the members wish, they can sing the praises of the dealer and tell us about his prices--as members here always have done.

But extended rug merchant haggling in a substantive thread is, to me, inappropriate.

I give you the following from the TBN Terms of Service:

you agree that when using a Forum, you shall not do any of the following:

9. Advertise, offer to sell any goods or services, conduct or forward surveys, contests, or chain letters, or post links to 3rd party websites, without the permission of TractorByNet.com.

I agree - would prefer to see purely commercial activity such as price quotes and negotiations either isolated in a separate area of TBN, or taken offline as was suggested. I too appreciate the discretion shown by Mr Carver and several others whose main focus has been sharing their valuable knowledge and experience.

Regardless of the outcome, think it was a good idea to surface this issue for group discussion and for guidance from Muhammad.

Though a newcomer, I regard TBN as a very special place, hope it stays that way.

Well, to be honest with you, I haven't SOLD anything on the forum, just possibly made it easier for another dealer to sell a tractor. I'm sorry you feel this way. I was just giving a little FREE advice. I thought that this forum could use expert advice from someone thats been in the business for over 20 years, but if it going to be a problem, I won't post anymore.

Cornhusker......Keep in mind that there is nothing personal toward you or your company in my views. You seem to be giving good advice and offering fair prices....Also keep in mind that this is an open forum. You don't have to pay attention to what I or anyone else thinks, and you can post whatever you want.......We have friendly discussions and disagreements here about just about every subject.......The only ultimate arbiter is the webmaster, Muhammad......My suggestion to you would be for you to register here and then send a private message to Muhammad asking him for guidance on what he thinks the appropriate boundaries are......You will find he is a benevolent dictator .... uh, I mean, a Platonic philosopher-king.
