Thats exactly what I want - a 4.0L. Not a fan of the minivan engine they replaced it with, and the 3.6L Pentastar is too new and unproven.Missouri has Inspection Laws. Number one rule is the engine has to be offered in the vehicle. I wanted to do a V8 swap but couldn't. So I added a Kenne Bell Supercharger to the I-6 4.0L.
Good farmer friend of mine just bought a JK 4 dr. He wants me to help him decide modifications. Lots of fun spending someone else's money.![]()
The 4.0 was replaced with the 3.8 minivan engine, then in 2012 MY the 3.6 Pentastar replaced that.Confused... Pentastars (G variant, 3.6) came out in 2011... not sure how new that is. And if by minivan you meant it was in the challenger and charger as well...
According FCA USA, the 3.6 penta was introduced in the 2011 Grand Cherokee. Saying its a mini van engine is like saying the 350 was a station wagon engine. The 350 went in nearly everything GM built, just like the penta is in 47% of FCA vehicles. As to unproven, it was in over 5 million by 2015. Its an just an engine and through electronics can be made to behave appropriate to whatever its installed in, to include minvans.
Still trying to figure out how 2011 is too new and unproven.
Not your original argument...your argument was 1. its a mini van engine 2. its too new and unproven.
Neither of those are supported by the data from the FCA website.
It sounds like you have an opinion that isn't supported by anything other than hearsay.
