Hello,

There seems to be a good price advantage for the LS. Is it worth the extra money for the bx.?

I have mostly going for the bx, but maybe I am not doing enough look at other scuts.

Thanks

I just discovered the LS last week myself....not sure how I missed it in my early cross shopping.

I was down to either a JD 1023E or Kubota BX2380, until I learned about the LS MT125. On paper, it is a tremendous value. I have kicked tires on the BX & JD, will see the LS one day this week. If it is what I hope it will be, I'll probably go that direction. I have it quoted $600 less than the JD, and $1400 less than the BX, and has better specs then both. I have a dealer about 50 miles away, so I can accept that. I do want to understand parts availability, and dealer support, since they are so new to the NA market. On the plus side, LS has cleaned up in the mfg'r/dealer surveys the last two years, a good sign for sure, for a newer entrant to the US market.

I'll report back once I have seen the product for myself, but I'm excited to check it out!

I personally would go with the Deere or Kubota. If you ever decide to sell it both will hold their value far better. Around us a LS or similar usually has horrible resale.
I also figure buy top notch once and be done with it - I can get parts in two days if needed and can't say I have many issues with any of my Kubota eqpt.
Good luck with your decision.

I also did a bunch of shopping around. I looked at JD, Kub., Mahindra, Massey, Kioti, and the LS. The JD dealer was just plain rude, had to wait 45 min to talk to someone, only to have them give misinformation. He was bragging about how well the support for parts was and how well the service was..... The lot was full of JD tractors needing repair..... I guess you would need parts support... To get the features that were stock on the LS, I would have to " upgrade" to the 1025 and still pay for some options. Total at JD was $24,600 for the TLB.
Next came the 'bota, again, barely could get anyone to talk to me. Was really told "there's a lot of other dealers and tractors around, I'm sure you can find one". WOW! They sure are proud! Anyway the 'bota came in at $23,500.
Then I went to Mahindra. At least a person came right out and showed me the different models and worked up a price. Even after their mumbo - jumbo about rebates, but the base price would be higher due to financing... They came in at $22,600.
Next researched and got a great price on a Massey.... $17,900... I was going that route until I came across the LS mt125. They are new this year, but LS has been around for a while. The parent company is actually LG, one of the largest electronic co in the world. Anyway, I called the closest dealer to me.... 516 miles away. It was the best experience I had so far. No frills, no messing around, gave me a price of $16,900 incl a post hole digger and 9" auger, upgraded the BH bucket to a 12", and a couple of bucket hooks. Had financing done over the phone in 20 minutes. Sight unseen! I then drove 1132 miles rt and 22 hrs to pick it up. I was not disappointed when I saw it. I now have 50 hours on it and has not let me down. I am just finishing up the install of a septic system ( look at my post under the projects forum).
I am no fool when it comes to shopping around and getting a good deal. I maintain my vehicles and take care of them. The last 3 that I owned had between 400K and 500k miles before I sold them and still got top dollar because of the records and condition. Just because there is a certain name on something, doesn't make it better. It's how it is cared for. I have seen many of the brand name tractors that were abused and are just a POS.
The LS mt125 has the same motor as the JD 1025. The LS has a better warranty than the others. I just did the 50 hrs service and could not get any of the 3 filters locally. I called the dealer and he shipped them to me in 3 days. They stock a full parts dept.
Sorry for ranting and rambling on.. Just wanted to give you the flip side of "a no name brand"

You did pretty well IMO. Even if your LS does not hold its value as well as Deere or Kubota, it'll never be upside down after saving $6K up front.

Yes, all said and done, it was well worth it, payments per month were much lower (between $45 to $75 month depending) and was a full year shorter. I love the stock options and it has great power for a scut.

Yes cost does matter, thanks for your reply. Interesting about the engine was wondering who made it etc.
Wanted to checkout one after work but will do it tomorrow

Thanks again

The LS MT125 has the same Yanmar engine that's in the Deere 1025R.

There must be some differences, based on the info I have. The 1025R has a 68 cu/in 23.9 HP Yanmar, the MT125 has a 77 cu/in 24.7 HP Yanmar.

I have been very impressed with some of the LS brand tractors. Did you know that they actually make some tractors for New Holland?
