You were fortunate to be at the right place at the right time. Good deals are all about luck and timing.
DL, my Massey had been traded in for an a/c cab Kubota like mine and was sitting right by the front door of the local Kubota dealer. They wanted it gone.
Sold it to me for a thousand over their trade three days before and I got a nice 2011 diesel 49hp
170 hour bare bones utility tractor for less than I paid for my new JD diesel garden tractor.
Besides, it was calling out to me...the prior owner had that Massey hood shined up like Ferrari red.
He was clearly a waxer and meticulous; I had to search for any dirt on the thing up underneath a cowling.
Was it my perfect second tractor? No. But I sure wasn't finding a spotless Kubota with hydro for anywhere near what I paid for this.
With the increasing complexity of agricultural equipment where you need one of your sons to get an IT degree for the farm,
the appeal of less complicated machinery is clear. Hard for me to consider buying something I have to add DEF to.
I might, just was hoping some new tech would show up making DEF fluid just an interim patch device. Well, still waiting...
And now there seems to be a whole new industry sprouting up cleaning DPF filters for big trucks and machinery.
If either of these two tractors the OP is considering had a better/easier emissions arrangement, that sure might sway some buyers.
sorry for going a bit off topic here
