New Kubota M7040SUHD or not!

See that one is at Hall Brothers.

Bought a new 7040SUHD down here in NS a bit ago Have over 300 hours on it now, no issues. It's the main tractor on our small beef farm so it runs disc mower, round baler, snow blower, plow plus all the manure loading and round hay moving.

It's set up the same as that one but with 28" rubber and dual remotes.

There was a VERY attractive price on the M7040SU and it was WAY cheaper than the M7060 8-speed ROPS and there is NO DPF junk on it. Used junk was only a few grand cheaper.

Buy this while you can, they don't offer this model any more. No HST over 60 PTO HP either.

I don't really have any specific dislikes, but keep in mind the SU is the basic tractor, the seat isn't as nice and no tilt wheel. I've put enough hours on this to not really care, lots of road haulage and field work at speed disc mowing etc.

That LA1153 loader has the euro coupler which is way better than skid steer. Have 78" bucket on ours, handles it fine. Loader also goes on and off in a minute with no tools. I had it on and off at least a couple dozen times last year.

3pt handles disc mower, 3 furrow plow and 78" snow blower perfectly fine. I am happy with the hyd flow, loader moves good.

For the price, power and service, I'd buy it again.

Any questions let me know.

I will add, surprisingly, that I think you can get a good or even great price on this tractor depending on negotiating skills. When I bought mine, I heard it mentioned that Kubota had a program to help dealers clean up unsold inventory on dealer lots. Since mine had been there well over a year, I figured it was one of those that Kubota wanted to move.

Tractor is marked sold at dealer. Hope you bought it?

Why don't deals like that ever come up in my neck of the woods. Man, what a deal that was.......... We don't even have crummy used implements in this part of the world.

I have the 2009 M6040HD-1 hydraulic shuttle. If you haven't already bought the unit you are looking at - you better jump on it. A brand new 7040 with tier 3 emissions is rare as hens teeth around here. Actually - I haven't heard of a new one in over four years.

As a matter of fact - since you mentioned it on this site - I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if its already gone by tomorrow.

You are looking at a tractor, IMHO(in my humble opinion) that with proper maintenance, will last you a lifetime.

Mine will start in any weather, pulls any and all Class ll implements, and has been a real joy to own and operate.

Mine is used to maintain my mile long gravel driveway(summer grading, winter plowing) - it easily runs a Wallenstein BX62s chipper as I chip 750-900 small pines to maintain my tree stands, will lift the heaviest of rocks & move large chunks of Ponderosa pine with the Land Pride SGC1560 grapple. It also pulls a moldboard plow, land plane grading scraper(LPGS), disk harrow and Rhino 950 rear blade. My tractor tips the grain scales at 10,100 pounds. It has a grapple on the FEL, Rim Guard in the rear tires and Rhino 950 rear blade on the 3-point.

Mine is open station as I think I'm a little claustrophobic and really do enjoy being out in the fresh air.

You will be hard pressed to find a better tractor in that HP range. Mine is eight years old and NEVER had a moments difficulty with it.

And having a dealer that close would be nice. The only downside - its going to take a plastic surgeon to get the grin off your face if you buy it and learn its many uses.

What did you have to do to add a grapple? this is a tool that would be essential for me!

Man - I'm so glad to hear that you have that unit on hold. Trust all the respondents on this thread - you WILL NOT regret your decision to purchase.

My grapple - the short story - have a lot of money, the unit I chose plus installation was - $3750. I went the whole 9-yards on this unit and because I've, long ago, found/realized my limitations - I had the Kubota dealer install the unit.

I got the Land Pride GSC 1560 grapple and WR Long electric over hydraulic third function valve. Land Pride no longer sells the GSC 1560.

The grapple is a real brute - its what is called a rock/root grapple - weighs 820 pounds and experience has shown that barring some horrid accident, I'm probably never going to have to worry about damaging it. Based upon the lifting capacity graphs in my owners manual - I have the capacity to lift 3000# with this unit.

The third function valve is just one way of "hooking up" a grapple. It puts the "open/close" function on the joy stick as a toggle switch. The other two functions - lift and tip - are already on the joy stick. The normal joy stick, which operates the bucket on the FEL, has two functions - lift, bucket up/down and tip, bucket tip forward and dump and tip back to hold the load. The third function is what opens/closes the jaws of the grapple.

Another manufacturer of heavy duty grapples is ANBO. They are 75 miles north of my property but due to the cost of transporting my tractor up there & back plus I really liked the Land Pride - I went with the Land Pride.

I got the grapple three years ago and its a permanent fixture on the FEL(front end loader) now.

See "yours" has the 24" front rubber as well. Most of them here were sold on the 20" Metric R1-W radials

Make sure you get rear work lights! The tractor is wired for them, they just don't come with it. You can get the factory kit (one per fender) or add your own LED in the existing holes on the fenders.

I didn't think of that until after the deal was made. Was only $100 to add a nice set though.

Don't have third function here, but if money is tight, run the grapple hoses to the rear remote IMG_0192.JPGIMG_0451.JPG
