New Kubota M7040SUHD or not!

See "yours" has the 24" front rubber as well. Most of them here were sold on the 20" Metric R1-W radials

Make sure you get rear work lights! The tractor is wired for them, they just don't come with it. You can get the factory kit (one per fender) or add your own LED in the existing holes on the fenders.

I didn't think of that until after the deal was made. Was only $100 to add a nice set though.

Don't have third function here, but if money is tight, run the grapple hoses to the rear remoteView attachment 504136View attachment 504137

I did a thread about adding an inexpensive work light. It's easy as can be and even a cheap light is better than the very expensive Kubota plastic one. Plus, I mounted mine on a bracket and not the ROPS.

I think this is the thread. Might be another one too.

Man that looks awesome i like the look with the loader dropped. Good to know that its pre wired for lights i will be sure to ask and see what they have.. my old man works with Hella and i can get some pretty powerful LED "samples" from him.

I decided to go with factory tires 9.5 x 24 the ones shown are a weird size off another unit.

Good call on the rear remote for the grapple that would do temporarily till i was able to get a kit installed.

Loader comes off whenever it isn't needed. Some days I've taken it off for a few hours and put it back on later that day, that's how easy it is.

Factory light kit was about $100 per side (two lights) The wiring pig tails are tucked in the ROPS, separate circuit for each side, but you'll need to have a switch, otherwise they are on and off with the ignition. I wired both LED to one circuit and used one switch. Go with Hella :)

Thanks for the link very helpful.

One other thing. Before you start, get some of that ribbed plastic that covers the wires. I think you need about four feet and I bought some at a farm type store for a couple of $$. WalMart probably sells it too. The small size you need is a little hard to find in small quantities. Put it on with zip ties.

Small point here but when I lived in rural Maine we would occasionally drive to Moncton and I believe passed that very dealer. Nice and clean looking shop and equipment. They had an M8950 I was interested in.

Second update and oops--the thread I gave you was for my M6800. The one I meant to send was for my M7040. I will find and link here ASAP.

Hi Everyone,

New member here...I have the opportunity to buy a new dealer left over M7040SUHD. Dealer is about 2km (1mile) away, on 2 quotes, they have the best price.

I am just starting out into the farming/homesteading world plan to use the tractor for 10-20 acres of field work wheat and hay, for maintaining a number of vegetable gardens and a myriad of other things like logging, snowplowing, landscaping etc..

The reason for going to the 70HP is for the tax exemption (no tax for 60HP and up at the PTO), why not get the larger sized tractor for the incremental extra cost.

Been having a little difficulty finding any specific info on this model tractor (lots of comments on the standard model 7040) is there anyone out there that can give some insight into this machine pros/cons, likes /dislikes, experiences.

Is this tractor going to withstand the test of time in the 3 point hitch, controls, etc..

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

A Nice soft cab for the snow, Sweat and bugs otherwise makes a man out of you on an open tractor.

In the fields, dust and sun all day, A hard CAB HVAC is needed, but how many of us are on a tractor all day?

Almost every year I help my neighbor either with planting or harvest. He has BIG tractors and, of course, they are all cabbed. One of the reasons I'm glad I did not get a cabbed tractor is the manner in which his tractors react in the summer. It will get hot here - 90+ - but our humidity will be 25% or less during the summer. You are sitting in a cab that is all glass and the heat from the sun is definitely amplified. The air conditioning is going wide open and from the knees down you are cold - like almost freezing. Perhaps its that the air conditioning just isn't circulating very well but I have found that its more comfortable to run with the air conditioner on and the doors open about six inches. You only close the doors when you are moving with the wind - going against it you can have the doors open.

And at about four hours of continuous operation - the fun of operating a big tractor becomes a job. That constant drone, the hot sun and I find I will get sleepy. This is not good........ I have to carry a large jug of ice water to drink and splash on me to maintain concentration. And many days will will operate 12 to 14 hours before we stop. I'm like a limp rag by the end of the day.

Wow, isn't that the truth and it's why I don't have a cabbed tractor. I would like them, who wouldn't but for a couple hours at a time I can't justify it. Bear in mind I would take it in a heartbeat but I'm fine without it.
