Good Evening (Morning).....

I'm new to the forum. Hopeufully, I'm doing everything correctly.

We're looking at the following Kubota/Woods pacakge at all four of our Central New York Kubota dealers. Does a price of $39,890 seem reasonable for the the items listed??

1. Kubota L4330: cab, HST, mid-PTO, loaded ag tires, back work lights

2. Woods 1020 loader w/ 72" double round bottom bucket and tooth bar

3. Woods R25-72" box scaper

4. Woods BH7500 backhoe w/ 16" bucket

5. Kubota 2174A front mount snow thrower w/ side bank cutters plus electronic deflector and hydrolic chute controls

In addition to your thoughts about the price question, we'd welcome any other input anyone might have concerning these items.

Thanks in advance for your help......Have a great day. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

My only question is why don't you go with the Kubota implements?

Kubota makes a fine backhoe and rear mount mower. Their new design FEL is a snap to remove and install and has plenty of power.

I'd opt for the R4's as they have a wider footprint and will wear longer than the Ag. tires.

Lastly, I'd scrap the front mount blower and go with a much cheaper rear mount. You have a cab and heat so you don't have to worry about snow covering you as you blow it. Besides, it's easy to look over your shoulder and you will have 2 rear mirrors too.

Price wise, I don't know. You could whack a couple of grand off with the rear mount verses the front mount.

I use a rear mount on my 5030HSTC. The heater works really good in Michigan winters, at least it did last year.

Daryl,
I don't know much about Kubota prices, but isn't that price pretty high considering most of the stuff is non-kubota?

Jerry:

I don't know for certain. I remember reading a thread somewhere that Kubota prices in the east were higher than the midwest or south.

I paid about $32K for my 5030HSTC with the LA853 FEL, R4's, and all cab options. I also have 3 sets of remotes (lets not go there!!!).

I ordered mine when they were first introduced. Granted, mine is the bigger one. Maybe I should say, mine is the bigger payment /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I priced a 4630. cab and 853 loader that was shown at the Woodstock fair last month.. 35600 and no extra remotes or anything.

I just thought that is sounded kind of steep.

Why the woods and not the Kubota attachments? Why not industrial tires? What do you propose do with this tractor, commercial work?

jecanyon, I think Woods makes a good backhoe, but the 7500 is too small for that tractor. Your tractor will accept a BH with 9 ft. digging depth (like the Woods 9000) vs. the 7.5 ft of the 7500. Even if you never dig that deep, you will be able to reach further away without repositioning the tractor, a real advantage. Also the digging force of the larger BH is a lot greater (bucket force 4,100 vs. 2,500 lb.), if you ever want to do things like dig stumps. The cost difference is small in relation to your total purchase, and in my opinion, money well spent. I saw a Woods 9000 BH mounted on a Kubota L3830 at my local dealer, painted orange, it looked like the right size for that tractor. Good luck with your decision, and welcome to the site.

Jerry:

Somewhere in the back of my befuddled brain, a thought sits that somewhere I heard the Woods was bought by John Deere.

J.D. has the Pioneer line of implements and I think I remember CowboyDoc saying that Pioneer was Woods.

I do know that the hoe I sold a couple of years ago (Kubota) was very similar to a Woods model, but fabricated with heavier gage steel and more gusseting in stress points.

I don't think JD owns Woods, but the JD line of Frontier equipment is made by Woods.

It wasn't me that said Pioneer was owned by Woods. I couldn't tell you if they are or not.

I can't remember what thread I read it in. I though it was you, but I wasn't sure. Age is making my mind foggy. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Daryl,

I haven't ever heard of a Pioneer line of equipment from Deere. They do have Frontier but Frontier is not all Woods. The only thing from Woods that is made for Frontier are the rotary mowers. Actually Deere bailed out Woods a few years back. Woods was going to go bankrupt and Deere stepped in and guaranteed buying so many rotary mowers a year from them and that kept them afloat. The Frontier line is made by several different mfg. and then branded as Frontier. The spreaders, blades, manure spreaders, rakes, discs, etc. are all made by different people.

Richard:

Being an old fart, I meant Frontier, said Pioneer. I must have been thinking Pioneer hydraulic tips.

I better increase my dosage of Glucosamine??

Here was what JD said about Woods and Frontier.
JOHN DEERE ANNOUNCES FRONTIER EQUIPMENT

Lenexa, Kansas (August 2, 2001) There will soon be a brand new line of equipment showing up on John Deere dealer lots. Frontier products will be available to complement the equipment offered by John Deere. Such implements as grooming mowers, rear blades, box scrapers, and other machinery will be offered at very competitive prices.

"Frontier will be a line of good quality implements and attachments," says Jerry Burau, Manager, Frontier Equipment Marketing. "They will be compatible, safe, and easy to use with a variety of John Deere products, and will provide customers a great value for the dollar. And, as the Frontier line becomes established, we will add more and larger equipment in the future."

The Frontier equipment will feature a John Deere green appearance with gray and black trim and accents. A completely new ordering system has been devised, using a Web-based business to business marketplace. John Deere dealers will work with customers in providing this equipment, and will provide product support for the Frontier product line.

The first products offered will feature the alliance of John Deere and Woods Equipment Company. A complete line of three-point hitch, landscaping and grooming equipment will be offered to dealers.

"Woods Equipment Company has a variety of equipment that works well to complement the John Deere line, " says Burau. "We are extremely pleased that we could work out this initial product line offering with Woods."

A special alliance with Attachment Technologies Incorporated (ATI) has also been established and Frontier will offer attachments for the John Deere 3000 Series Telehandlers.

To learn more about the complete line of Frontier Equipment, contact your local John Deere dealer.

I would check and make sure that you can run a backhoe with the cab model Kubota. Unless something has changed, there have been several people on the forum who could not find a backhoe that fit with the cabs.

MarkV:

The BH 90 Kubota hoe WILL NOT FIT and HSTC tractor. Kubota will not sell the hoe to or with that particular tractor as there is not enough room for the cab and the hoe.

However, Bradco has designed a hoe mounting bracket that will allow their hoe to fit. I know this for a fact. I have been in contact with bradco's district manager and he just forwarded the part numbers to my dealer.

At the start of the thread, when I was questioning the Kubota and non-Kubota equipment I should have mentioned this but I forgot.

You are referring to the new Frontier Implements made by Woods for John Deere.
John Deere does not own Woods.
