Wow....my first full day of running the tractor in some tight areas with the Bush Hog and I managed to crush my neighbors fence with my FEL. It's crazy how fast you can do some damage with a beast in the woods. He came out a minute or two later and didn't realize I had messed it up since it is a ways from his house. Obviously I let him know and showed him the damage. Looks like I get to try out my new post hole digger next week to fix his fence! Good thing he's a nice guy.

On the plus side the old 306 Bush Hog I picked up last week is ridiculous in clearing off the property. Since it already looks like it has been through a war I didn't mind putting the stress test on it and I think it can take more than my tractor can put it through.

If your not used to the fel sticking out there it can take some time to get used to. If I know I'm not going to be using it a lot of times I'll drop the fel before I mow, or at least take the bucket off (quick disconnect).

Yep, you can tear up "stuff" in a hurry with a FEL, that is why a lot of guys take them off when using a rotary cutter. It won't be the last thing you hit with your FEL , there are always trees to suffer too you know.:) It starts getting expensive when you start working around close to the house or someones automobile.:)

I wouldn't think of dropping the loader while mowing. It's how I find the stumps. :)

Well... If you are not familiar with the area you are mowing.. yeah, that is a good idea, but if it is a field you mow all the time, and there arent any stumps...then drop that FEL, or at least the bucket, and the fences will thank you.. Because you need to be looking over your shoulder and watching the rotary cutter and that dang bucket will sneak out and grab a fence post lickety split.

As you get closed to corner, raise your bucket to clear fence. Once you get around the corner lower your bucket so you have good view of what's in front of you.

Who, with a FEL hasn't nudged/hit/bumped  something? Liar:laughing: or you don't use it very much.
I'd think you'd want to keep the FEL, bucket and all on for front weight when using a bush hog or I do. Yep, it makes it longer and I'd rather have a bucket to take the touches vs the arms alone.:2cents:

To be expected, I use a combination of removing the bucket, FEL and raising the FEL.

It' really easy to remove/attach a FEL, we do it from the BX up through M8540. I found this on You Tube:Front end loader detach.mpg - YouTube

How do you use it to find stumps? Run it low to the ground?
