new Kubota tears down part of neighbors fence

Happens to us all. It does as much damage at low speed too. I have a hole in my garage wall where i bumped it with the corner and it went through like a hot knife through butter even though i was barely moving. Be VERY careful around cars and anything else not easily repaired.

I leave my fel on while cutting. (lazy) When I come to a corner I raise the fel so it doesn't hit the fence. It always seems to snag a tree limb while I'm looking back at the bush hog while going around the corner and then the limb comes back and hits me in the face, hard!

I've lost many hats and sunglasses that way but luckily not an eye yet.

I often use a FEL/bucket to "find" stumps, I run it pretty close to the ground angled up. Just after we got our M8540, I was mowing a field my sons had been mowing the two previous years. I was assured there were no stumps, well it seems they forgot one, "Oh, you mean the one down past the pond..." well my bucket riding up on it save damage to the tractor and cutter. I also roll the buck all the way down and check for drop offs.

Fortunately I don't have the problem and don't have to look behind unless I am backing up, then I use the mirrors. :D

The 7' brush hog.

That bucket way out front takes some getting used to.

growing up with a loader on the tractor its always been second nature to always watch the loader.an i always raise the loader up out of the way.

I guess it could have been my truck instead of his fence….that fence won't take me too long to repair and it will keep me remembering how fast I can mess up some stuff. I probably would take the loader off if all I was doing was a big open area or field but since this is a few acres with roots and small scrub I'm using the bucket all the time to scrape that stuff up after I knock it down with the cutter. I have some baby hardwoods in there too so I marked them with bright green tape so that I won't get overzealous and cut them all down too.

Everyone's situation is different. So different methods are needed.

For me, I never cut with the FEL on. It's just too bulky.

As to TripleR's story. I work around my Brother all the time. He's messy, rarely finishing anything. He'll leave a stump just about anywhere. I hafta keep pretty close tabs on him. When he's not around I fire up the backhoe and take care of the odd stump he leaves. Early last Summer he went on a rampage with our tree shear. I'm still cleaning up that mess...... :)

Who here hasn't hit something with their loader while looking back and just tried to power through it? It's one thing to hit something, feel some resistance, and stop. It's another when you're enjoying what your doing so much your first reaction is to just push a little harder on the go pedal and then you realize that maybe you should look.
